    Default warlock question about consume?

So according to the description -
"our magics consume bits of your opponent's form, disintegrating bits of them for 2d10 Chaotic damage every 2 seconds for a duration of 16 seconds. The damage scales with 125% spell power. The effect can stack up to 3 times. Your enemy is also marked with the Consumed trait."

So you can fire it off every 10 seconds. but the spell wears off every 16.
it says the spell can stack 3 times., but how? By the time you hit consume for the third time wont the first one have expired?

I know im probably missing something simple but this is confusing me.

Consume losses stacks one at a time. So you have a 6 second window from when you can cast again to before the first stack wears off to cast it a second time, resetting the timer and bumping the stacks to 2. Then 10 seconds later while there is still 6 seconds left before it goes from 2 stacks down to 1 stack, you cast it again, bumping it up to 3 stacks and resetting the timer on it.

Every cast resets the timer to 16 seconds.

IOW, between 10s and 16s after your first cast, you recast consume on the same target and that target is now Consumed for 16s at double the effect.

If you cast a third time 10s later to the same target that target will be Consumed for 16 more seconds at triple effect.

If you keep casting every 10 to 16s you will keep a triple effect Consume on the target.

    Hope that helps.
