Default Calling all haggard-looking IT halflings.

When I play the 64bit (or 32bit) client on Hardcore server. I never, ever crash. In fact the game runs smoother. I don't experience the same staggered play I do on live. As soon as I load up 64bit OR 32bit on Sarlona I randomly (within 10 minutes or within 2 hours) get a game lockup. My screen goes gray for a minute. Then the sound crashes. Then I'm back at my desktop. I've had this problem for about a year and still do not have a solution.

I've tested my video card and other hardware. All operating nominally.

I religiously update all software and hardware.

    I've reset settings.

I've used the repair feature more than once.

Removed the game and all its files completely. Even my precious keybinds and UI layouts. Then reinstalled. No difference.

It is just boggling. The game simply will not crash if I play on Hardcore. Soon as I go back to live it crashes constantly.

Just thinking about what is different about the Hardcore server, these things come to mind.

    - considerably less platinum/inventory items being stored across the server in backpacks, banks, shared banks, and Vaults.

    - Fewer average past lives per character.

This might not prove helpful, but perhaps identifying things that are different might point towards a potential issue.

I too have found the hardcore server to be generally more stable. In the back of my mind I think I just assumed it was given priority somehow - like more bandwidth or better hardware.

You make some good points and they are things I considered as well. My main is well stacked when it comes to account upgrades, past lives and items. I wonder if the current build can handle it? I don't know.

When I multibox, I notice that my main account (with several characters that have many past lives, tr caches, filled bank inventories, etc) is much more likely to freeze on a loading screen than my other accounts (that only have 1-3 characters on them, most first lifers or only a handful of past lives, very little extra gear, no tr cache). The alt accounts transition through loading screens much faster and are less likely to crash. Even though they are running on the same computer.

Not saying this IS the answer, but a likely contributor to the issue.

It may just be my imagination, but my client always feels much more stable after I empty my TR cache vs. playing with a full cache.

Also, I think it's just an old wives' tale, but other people have told me that they make sure to take all their end rewards as they think unclaimed rewards contributes to lag and/or client instability.

You know I do run around with a full TR cache the entire time I play through a TR. Hmm.

I have noticed this as well. I wonder how much of the load on older accounts is the reason we experience so much interrupted play. Yet, we are the ones who have contributed the most to the company and the game.
