I'm not going to cancel my VIP tomorrow - but only because I did it already at the end of Nov.
My three-month timer just has to run out, and I'll be VIPless for the first meaningful period of time (ie, the only time finances haven't played the deciding factor in being/not being VIP) since this game launched. I thought I'd feel maybe a pinch of remorse.

the gold rolls are mostly fluff. having them daily or not daily doesn't matter. I TR too quickly for the xp stones to add up to much more than starting at level 2 instead of level 1, so it doesnt save much time. reincarnation hearts don't take long to grind for.

Daily gold rolls were always intended as a temporary fix. I figure we'll see something to replace them by March, but even if not, it won't matter to me.

So, getting people addicted to gambling is the real purpose.

Get them hooked by giving it to them for free, then taking a way the freebies.

Have you any idea how many people don't play any more because they got "hooked" on grinding for loot, successfully grinded, and then DDO gave them the shaft by releasing more loot that was better?

Have you any idea how many more people than that never wanted to be grinding in the first place, so quit DDO within like the first 6 months?

If you aren't playing an RPG because you like playing, and instead it's a mental health issue that is being exacerbated, I personally wouldn't come on the forums and gloat about it.

No not just fluff. I got some +hearts, tomes for alts, xp pots and major slayer boosts among other useful things. It's just that too much junk like bigby's dilutes the loot tables.

If you TR a little slower, you could go to 3 easily from gold roll xp stones. 3 is a good level: still get full xp from lvl 1 quests; maybe lvl 2 spells; can use both Elieri and another hire for extra damage / healing.

And yes, there should be something to replace daily gold rollls. Why would we have to wait till March? Simple increases ,like more xp and more vip group xp would take no dev effort and could be activated immediately.

SSG did a nice thing. Gave us daily gold rolls out of the blue as a thank you for being VIP til the end of the year. It was never an entitlement. You got a nice thank you perk and now your acting like a child. I've been VIP since 2006. So the gold roll goes back to weekly. Ok so be it. Keep the threats and petty behavior ot will be a long time coming before the offer something again.

My point of view has been that the daily gold roll was just a stop-gap measure meant to acknowledge that they see there is an issue and plan to do something about it. Expiring that benefit gives me the impression that they are planning to roll out the long-term solution instead. I plan to give them some time to do that before I resort to unsubscribing. I'll not wait forever to see that happen though.

I really hope they don't balance VIP around hardcore. "Opening elite on hardcore has huge value, so we don't need to improve VIP"

Nothing on the live servers should balance around a *different* game mode, but that ship has sadly sailed.

Everyone should be able to open any difficulty on hardcore, its a race right? Ive unsubbed due to the offhand versatility nerf, gold roll bs just helped me remember to. Ignore what people say, watch what they do. Im also still annoyed vip didnt get all new content like they were promised and plainly deserve with a monthly subscription. Ah well, f around and find out, later all.

This is kind of the krux of the issue. Everyone thinks that. Including SSG themselves. But they steadfastly won't add real value to it, so taking something away is the last straw for a lot of people.

I was a very happy VIP before they launched the daily gold rolls and will remain one after it goes away. I enjoyed the perk while it lasted and continue to enjoy all of the other VIP perks we already get not to mention the great game itself.
