    Default Looking for wizard build

    Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone had a wizard build that has dps and surivability in reaper mode. I am interested in playing a melee build, but I know that they are typically better the more past lives that you have. I looked into playing a melee sorcerer, but wizards get more feats so I figured that wizard would be better.

This toon has access to 32 pt build, but no tomes.

    Thanks all!

That's true of almost any build. There are better builds for leveling, but it's still doable with 1st-life.

If you want melee, you almost have to have Harper tree, for Int-to-Hit + Int-to-Damage. Some other trees can help optimize it (VKF, FeyDark), but Harper is kinda a dealbreaker. Harper is free to VIP, and (for others) not hard to earn per server if you have some of the E-star content.

    Some builds:

    o Gish: https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post6522393

o Caster wiz: https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post5068723 (this build is old, but nothing much has changed)

o some general links and comments https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post6335285

Thanks for the response! I didn't realize that once you unlocked harper tree, it was on a per server basis.

Since there are better builds for leveling, is there something else that you would recommend?

    One of the few:

If you had all the gear, and some +2/+5 Tomes, it would be solid for leveling, but "gish" puts a lot of demands on a 1st life/1st character toon.

If you like casters, I'd go Pure Sorcerer

If you want melee, then something more in this direction:
    o https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...ure-Zergbarian
    o '22 basic Barbs https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...=1#post6533766

There are scores of alternative approaches, and then dozens of variations on each of those (20's x 12's = a LOT), but those are simple and solid.
