    Default What's up with jumping?

Recently I've had a lot of trouble with jumping forward. This happens a lot in water but also on land. My character jumps up but not forward, even with good jump skill, whether on foot or mounted. It has killed my character on Hardcore. Did something change? How can I fix this problem?

Well the spacebar is only an 'up movement' when you hit it. You need to also use your forward (W) button at the same time as the spacebar to go up and forward.

No she's right, something has changed. I am also often having the problem when jumping and moving that the jump processes separately from the movement. I started noticing this last week or maybe the week before.

I do a lot of jumping on the move and I hadn't seen this particular problem happen. Pressing jump while moving often causes my character to stop moving and jump in place.

It could be that the jump score listed in the skills list is not the actual jump score.
Sometimes a spell's buff to it keeps hanging and the the figure shown is actually wrong, in reality it's way lower.

Also, player's like to grieve other player's on HCL by casting disenchant on them.

It has nothing to do with the Jump skill level. It has to do with how the jump command behaves when you are moving. Prior to whatever caused this change if you were moving forward and pressed jump you would get a smooth arcing jump as you moved. Now often instead you get an awkward hop that cancels forward momentum. That is something that is new, likely a bug that got inserted during all the prancing about over cooldowns. Clearly SSG wanted to do something about how actions interacted in a chain and my guess is that they accidentally inserted a break somewhere in the process.

It's possible that something else happened but it is really easy to see when you move forward and press the jump key.

I have noticed my keyboard not working from time to time like it ignores keys for a second or so. I will jump and run. Or use a key for a clicky and it just doesn't work. I have heard others complain of spells not going off. I wonder if it is the same thing. I have blood tribute and I usually have to tap the key repeatedly until I see the extra hp appear. Moving, jumping, nearly everything. I pay very close attention when I do anything to make sure the something happened before I assume it. I sort of assumed it was just lag where I click the key and the message doesn't make it to the server. This is just how the game seems to play all the time for me.

This is it exactly! Thank you for describing it much better than I did.
One thing I've noticed since making my first post and playing around with it is that this effect happens most often when I'm either in water or running across an uneven surface, going uphill, etc.

I have noticed this as well. I wonder if it also had something to do with the way they made adjustments to movement in water, since that was a spot where they would have been touching code that could interact with player movement in general. Regardless, I agree there is some weirdness in spots related to movement that I know were not around prior to U56/U57.

On a different note, I have noticed that it's easier to hit monsters who are running away (I.E. You cast a ground DOT like consecration, the monster runs to get out of it). I swear it's now easier to whack them in the butt while they're starting to get away. Before it felt like they entered some weird state where they were not honoring collision detection.

It happens on regular servers too, so not being griefed by other players. Also it happens while mounted, when your jump is maxxed out.
