    Default Mats expiring is weaksauce

The fact mabar ingridients expire is lame. We run these for xp anyway but it's absolutely lame that the materials have to be used or expire.

If they didn't then they'd have to increase prices like five fold...works out the same either way, but at least this way you get your inventory back between events

I like the dev's choice to make them expire. It gives me a reason to replay the event each year. I think it's a good design choice. As above said, prices would probably also be higher if ingredients didn't expire.

Its annoying and SSG's clean up process is abysmal.

To add salt to the wound... SSG allowed expired ingredients can be auctioned to unsuspecting players which creates a lot of unnecessary aggravation.

I have old expired ingredients sitting in my shared crafting storage that have been invis'd and had heir descriptions deleted i cant remove these old expired ingredients.
I eventually figured out they were vampire fangs from a few years back, but cant remove them from the share deposit bank to inventory to be able to delete them.. they are stuck.

SSG still has not fixed/deleted old expired ingredients that don't even have descriptions or short text anymore.. bug reported a couple years ago....crickets....

They should have been invalidated for auction when they were tagged for expiry.

Here's a screen capture of Vampire fangs I cant drag from my shared crafting storage to inventory to delete, they have been stuck in my crafting storage box with deleted text.
Just in there as a stack of undeletable blank.... they were an unknown item for a while, I accidently found out what they were while filter text searching/cleaning old Mabar ingredients to delete.

deleting ingredients is a terrible mechanic in my point of view.
SSG poorly handles/cleans up expired ingredients, descriptions and tradability.
If i don't grind/play enough to get what I want during the event I am screwed and have to start from scratch next year when the event comes back around.
If i don't craft everything and store these crafted items in an already congested inventory system I am penalized by having the ingredients expire.
New items occasionally get added and when they do they usually have a new component ingredient which does not change the grind time to craft new released items.
Expired ingredients clutter up the inventory system... we don't need more scrap cluttering an already burdened inventory.
Inventory descriptions don't recognize retoractive changes until items are pulled out of shared bank/tr cache/bags into active inventory which just adds to the annoyance.

NR was active for like six weeks this year. An item takes maybe 5-6 challenges to complete. If you haven't played enough for that then you really haven't done enough to claim any kind of entitlement to any rewards...

I'd much rather have that than the Anniversary Party system where it takes 20 completions of a 15 min challenge for one item, and you might take two years to get enough if you're just playing casually

Also there's no reason to let the ings clutter up anything. Just delete them now if you aren't going to spend them. That's the whole point.

I actually like the expiration. This is one of the few events that newbie and veterans both start on an even playing field.

As mentioned before it also give you a reason to run the event. Every item you could want is achievable within the event window. I am a casual player, weekends mostly and even I end up giving away mats to guild members or anyone that asks in trade in the last week or I post stacks on the auction house for a few plat incase someone needs just a handful more of something. Except for chocolate, those I dump in consumables. 400 or 500 Gloomy Restoration or Death Ward potions should last until next year. Maybe...

If you need some mats last minute just ask in trade or general, I am sure there are plenty of fellow players that would help out.
If it ain't broke, you're not trying hard enough.

This true. I don't mind the expiry but I wish they had fixed the bug where the bank calls them by the wrong name (how they didn't address this in the bank "overhaul" escapes me). At lets be realistic, if they decide to not expire the mats they will probably significantly reduce the drop rate. I'll take it as it is.

I agree with this 100% and most above all is what was noted above the ability to sell old mats is bad esp for unsuspecting new players

Unfortunately, SSG in their ultimate wisdom like to run these events at the same time new content is released or hardcore is open which tends to divide available time.
