    Default Unlock Misery's Peak?

So I have a bit of a conundrum.

I was running solo on the Hardcore server and completed Misery's Peak. Took the portal and my game locked up on the loading screen.

I gave it 10 minutes and then just killed the game via task manager. When I relaunched the game it let me login and loaded Korthos as expected but I still see it snowing and the Korthos quest giver for Misery's Peak won't give me an end reward nor will they let me repeat the quest.

The only idea I have is to take the ship to Korthos and return thinking it will bring me back to sunny side and perhaps I can get my end reward there? Anyone else have any ideas.

I did log a ticket but it REALLY doesn't feel like a "GM" ticket and more a normal support ticket. I have literally no hope that they will even look at it in the next 4 months much less be able to do anything about it.

    Thanks all.

You definitely won't get a reply before the 2 months of HCL are over. Your ticket will get closed a while after with no response, though.

You're lucky. The ever-constant load screen freezing often counts as a character death.
If I can read the dev tracker, you can too.

Try going sunside, and if that doesn't work then you might try redboxing it with someone else who's on the quest and see if finishing it a 2nd time that way advances things for you.

Did you get awarded your favor that is the only thing of value on HC. The items that are end rewards from that quest are not worth the time or effort to acquire them at all.

First, check and see if you got credit for completion in the quest journal [p]. If you did, you got the Favor, which is (probably?) the important part. The only truly lasting reward is the Archivist's Necklace, which is a nice little safety net for casters; almost anything else can be quickly and easily surpassed by droploot/AH finds.

The quest-giver should be Amalgam, who is near the dwarf-trader's camp (overlooking the water). You can't re-acquire the quest "To Misery's Peak", by same NPC just outside the gates.

Regardless, the only thing I can think of is to see if you can Abandon the quest, and then talk to Amalgam near the dwarf camp again.

If not... it is what it is. As E pointed out, coulda been a lot worse.

    GL!

"If you received credit for the favor, move on."

I personally have the same sentiment as others.

If you didn't get credit, I would try to "Abandon" it in your quest journal (Default "L") and try to repeat. If not, "Red Box" it. The Archivist Necklace is only useful for normal servers (or you insist on doing Reaper at low levels). Otherwise exiting a quest and taking the re-entry penalty is a far better use of your time and energy.

Besides, Misadventure is your greatest enemy. Better to top off in a public space than trying to push through with an Archivist Necklace.

So the quest was "completed" but I didn't have the favor. Logged out and restarted no change.

Jumped over to Stormreach and returned and it was at last Sunnyside but the quest giver wouldn't give me a reward. At least then I was able to pick the quest up again and re-run it.

this time it completed, gave me the end reward and the favor. Quite a **** show but at least it's fixed up

In HC6 I left Korthos (snowy-side) for the Keep to visit the bank. This was early on when they were dealing with several different bugs and had to restart the servers several times. I logged off for one of the reboots while still in the Keep. When the server came back up I logged in and went back to Korthos and it was still snowy-side. It was a bit weird and unexpected.

This display seems a bit of a contradiction - if it's completed, it should show the favor. Where did you see it listed as "completed" if not in the Compendium (p)?

Nope that is where I saw it. Wish now I had taken a screen shot.

It showed "Normal" completion (that is what I ran it on) with 0 favor. I know that there can be a display bug but almost 30 minutes later and 2 DDO restarts and 1 PC reboot later it still showed the Normal completion, No Favor, Snowy Side Korthos and unable to either complete or re-run the quest.

Took the ship to StormReach and headed straight back immediately and it dropped me off on Sunny Korthos. Where I could tell the quest giver I wanted to re-run it. Did the re-run and this time got my end reward and favor.

100% agree on the contradiction. Also I did the math and my "total" favor matched what it should have been if I hadn't completed Korthos at all so somehow it registered the quest as done at least for the display in the journal but not-done in every other way.

I had even tried just running up to the quest and re-entering before jumping over to SotrmReach but it said I hadn't been granted the quest yet.

One of the rules of HC is no CS, so yeah, he's not going to get a response.

Yeah, good point. In Hardcore, CS will not, under any circumstances, help anyone "finish" a quest, for any reason. Even a trivial one. Just another HC road bump.

Realistically there is little to no CS for DDO at all anymore let's be honest. That said I filed the ticket more as a bug report than any hope they would complete it for me.

The Ultra crazy thing is that on my re-run I could run on Hard so it knew I completed a Normal run there as well.

Honestly in the nearly 16 years I have been playing the game I have never seen, nor heard, of this before. Could be I caught an actual Unicorn!

Just wish now it had been on a chest loot roll for a nice tome!
