I have been working on all of our new enhancement trees. This has me thinking about the gameplay mechanics. I really think introducing languages would help the game. Both from a roleplay standpoint and gameplay standpoint.
I also believe it would have a inadvertent effect on player power and game balance. You see introducing language as a gameplay mechanic in quests and rewarding that roleplay element means we can start looking at revamping all of the enhancement racial trees and some other trees adding additional language as tier enhancements. It
As an example, army of darkness we run into the npc along the way to the cemetery and village, this could be an interesting time to be able to add a language barrier. The npc could also have conversation DC's that could ultimately lead to an independent path around the village and open a more direct route or just a side route through the quest.
Adding languages like this can also lead to side objectives that lead to "capturing" and learning from enemies, wither plot points, loot, buffs to players for the quest, items that lead to debuffs on enemies or dungeon bosses.
Language seems like a logical Introduction, and would enhance the game from a global standpoint.
