Default Returning Player (again) - Adventure Packs Question

    Hello! (again!)

Now I have a character that I like and want to progress, now I need content! I'm currently level 11, and I bought that boost to my account that lets me create new characters at level 4 or 7, so I don't have to keep playing those early missions I already played a bajillion times (at least, not if i make a new character, I think I have to start from 1 on a rebirth?).

I bought Menace of the Underdark back about when it first came out - but I haven't bought an adventure pack since. I am a subscriber so I do have more content than a ftp, but I'm looking to expand. I heard good things about Mists of Ravenloft, and its about around my level (I'm 1 higher afaik) but I was curious about the others, and ways to purchase them. Like, I saw on the DDO site they have a bundle for three, but menace is one of them so I'd be paying 60 for two, so I don' t think that's the way to go. Would purchasing DDO points and getting one be my best bet? I think I'm overlevelled (atm) for the new one that just came out. Also I should mention I would be buying standard, so any extras that might be worth it is probably out of my wallet range.

I guess if y'all have any suggestions on which adventure pack gives the most bang for buck, or the best way to buy several at once (like I know amazon or something similar sometimes has packs for sale exclusive to their stores) I would like to know please

Also, just as a side question, if I had around 2k ddo points, for a new player, what would (probably) be the most important thing to buy for a first life trying to go into more lives character? Tome(s)? I noticed mounts have been added but I doubt extra speed at this point is worth it? Backpack tabs? I dunno...

    Thank you for your response!

I heard Ravenloft has a lot of nice stuff to earn in it as well, or at least it's what I heard a few years ago. Like, people were saying 'you get such and such from ravenloft' so I was initially interested in it from what I heard before, but wasn't sure if it was still good or the best to get (for my level or otherwise).

I also remember going to the sharn place but not being able to take quests there last time I played because I didn't have it. It did seem interesting as well though. Maybe I should pool together my existing and new DDO points and get both? Just spitballing it atm and thinking outloud xD

I'd wait a few days - there'll probably be some Black Friday sales.

Ravenloft and Sharn are both excellent packs.

First time you go through the first quest (Into the Mists) you meet a vendor on the other side that gives you a very good lvl 10 weapon with a lot of really useful buffs on it for the expansion.

The gear over there is still very nice. I've made plenty of characters that equipped Ravenloft gear at level 10, and went on to go to level 20 without really having to look at anything else.
Of course, nowadays, there's Sharn on the way there.

As far as Legendary gear goes, all of it is pretty much equal power-level-wise, but you get more options and a more fleshed out build by having access to more different gear than you would otherwise.
The Sharn sets are more specialized than the Ravenloft ones, for good reason. There's 4 Ravenloft specialist sets, and 7 Sharn ones, so there's more room for a very specific Sharn set that suits your build. (for example, there's a Ravenloft "caster" set, but a whole Sharn Cleric/Favored Soul set)

Yep exactly what most people said.
Wait for sales, who knows you might get it for veeery cheap.

Ravenloft quests, I found them harder than average quests. Mobs are a bit tougher, and some quests do require wiki to not get lost running around for 1 hour. Some mobs are hard to deal with. Death is right behind the corner. And use the "guides" in the taverns that will transport you to quest entrances.
The gear however is very good for lv 10. You'll find lots of named items, mostly with "Adherent of the mists" generic set, and if you're melee (I think you're a dwarf with waraxes right ?) you can lookup "silent avenger" set that give substantial offensive boosts. And do not miss on the first guy you meet after ending "Into the mists" quests, he gives you a very good weapon for that level. Anyway you can find good named items for almost all gear slots (exceptions being head, trinket IIRC, could be wrong on that).
    And you have a saga.
And the ambiance is very good too. You can explore a bit the huuuge wilderness area to get a good feeling.

Sharn are easier in completion, but monsters are really tough. Items are very good, but much more specialized - no generic set, and you can only wear one full set I think. But quests are short and give tons of XP, so almost everyone run these at 17-18 (quests are 15-16, so 17-18 on Elite/Reaper)
There are 2 sagas, one for basic, easy to access quests, and one for fast but harder to access quests.

Sagas are a great way to earn xp or skill tomes or guild renown.
IMO, wait til end of week, buy Ravenloft. If it's on sale and you have spare money, get Sharn.

Feywild is also very good, however gear is lv5 (for heroic, not epic). But if you plan to make another char, or reincarnate this one, you should look out for sales on this too.

    Welcome back!

I believe MOTU, Shadowfell, and Ravenloft was 99 points each with the special DDOQUESTS2021 coupon code last year. Feywild and Sharn was never on sale. Maybe it will be different this year.

Masterminds of Sharn is on sale for 85% off ($19.50) for the Ultimate Fan Bundle. I'd jump all over that. The content starts at level 15 but there are so many extras bundled in that it is a great deal for any account that doesn't have Sharn yet.

Yes! Thank you! I went ahead and put up the 20 for the ultimate, then 16 for feywild (standard) and got both!

I won't lie to y'all, I made a slight error in judgement. Yesterday I took the about 2k points I had from last time I played, and bought 600 more (now 700 *facepalm*) and got Ravenloft before checking the forums. But, in a kind of stroke of luck(?) for me, it didn't seem to be on sale. So I would have had to do that anyway. So all told, I got all three for around 44 bucks. Not bad, especially with how sharn is so darn cheap with all that stuff!

    Thank y'all again!

I had already bought the Standard version of Sharn before the last 85% off sale happened, and I STILL chose to buy the Ultimate version at that much of a lowered price.
The teleporter especially made me glad I did. Getting a teleport access from as low as level 1 that gets me mere seconds away from trainers is some nifty quality of life.

You won't regret getting Ravenloft in any case.
I wish more people that were running the quests in DDO also ran the tabletop version, just to know how well the quests in DDO were made using existing content. Really impressive work, and, as far as I'm concerned, still the best content update SSG gave us to date.

I used to play 2.0 DnD, while I was in the navy, I was a dwarven fighter named Groz Kindletoes xD It was all homebrew though so we didn't follow the pre-existing content, but if I ever found a group around where i live I would like to, either old content/new content or homebrew would all be fine with me. I am very shy though irl and afraid to say something cringey near new people so I take a while to 'open up' and really have fun with it. The people I played with back in 1999/2000 I knew for a while (and I was younger/more reckless) so it was easier getting into the groove.

Thats the reason I like MMO's like this better I guess. I can show up one day, play by myself, show up another day, join a guild and interact with people, and if I feel overwhelmed I can just go solo again no pressure (mostly, I know end game in many MMO's you HAVE to do with a group and then they expect you to show up every week to raids and such) so I like being able to pop into a group when I feel like it, and not when I don't.

This game has been my on again off again love for many years. This, and the OG Everquest. I also miss City of Heroes/Villains, its too bad it died completely. I'm so glad for SSG and the fans that helped keep it alive all these years.

    Default levels in packs?

So I started mm, 3 days ago, having not played since Shadowfell came out.

I am interested in the old pack w/ ravenloft in it as it has quests for 10 and up. I am just playing new characters from scratch and have yet to decide if I will bother going VIP again, or buying one of the expansion packs.

Since I am newbing it up, what are the level ranges for heroic quests in the packs? Only the old old 3 pack update has level ranges in them. I will probably not get any serious levels due to limited playtime, and want to maximize fun, so lots of low/mid level heroic quests.

Are the level ranges for all the "new" packs listed anywhere? What would be some of the most interesting ones to go with (the dinosaurs look awesome)?

Will there be any christmas sale, since I obviously missed black friday?

    Thanks!
