I really value the DDO Wiki but it's been slipping lately. Also, unless it's something really simple, I'm not sure how to edit it or how to tell anyone where I've found gaps.

It's my understanding that the wiki is a shared responsibility of SSG and the user community. So how about a channel on the forums and maybe some links to how to videos or a live how to instruction session? Or I'm sure there are other ideas to engage more people in projects to do updates.

To my knowledge, SSG has nothing to do with the DDO Wiki.

The wiki is purely a DDO player community project.

For basic information on how to participate in the Wiki project with some basic instructions on how to edit it, go here: https://ddowiki.com/page/Help:Editing

And yes, it doesn't seem like it's keeping up with changes as it used to. I guess that means the wiki could use some more help.

Some updates to abilities, enhancements, etc. Some are pretty obscure.

I found one just the other day. It was in a table of all the augments. On a couple of the level 32 augments, there was a notation that said "Unverified." I removed the unverified tag because I had seen the augments in-game (both had been in the shard AH more than once on Khyber), myself.

Now, I realize that the Wiki is in need of constant updates because things need to be added when new content comes out or, in some cases, need to be "verified." But these augments had been around for almost 5 months and readily verifiable but no one, as of yet, had taken the time to update the table. I did it because I just happened to be looking for what augments would be good to slot in my Legendary Thirteen.

Am I expecting too much too soon? Maybe. But I will tell you I've seen WAY more outdated things in the wiki and, when I can, I try to update them.

I feel like if more folks were involved regularly, some of these more outdated entries could be addressed.

    EDIT: Some typos fixed.

If you are interested in participating, please help out. Start small. Do some copy and paste. DDOwiki and compendium both need helping hands. SSG is not giving out any information. Everything needs to be done by gamers.
The wikidiscord is a good start, too.

    Cheers,
    Titus.

Cool I didn't know about the discord channel.

I have done a lot of editing over the years. But just within the page itself. For example, there's medium armor that drops in the skelly raid that's not listed in the table at the bottom of the raid description. But when I go to edit there's no table to edit. It's obviously being being auto-generated somehow. But I don't know how to add to it.

Nonetheless, it's in SSG's best interest for the wiki/compendium to be successful. Maybe 500 DDO points for the most contributions over the month of December or something?

I've added Dinosaur Scale Plate a few days ago. The table is indeed automatically generated; the exact mechanic is best discussed using discord. Essentially once you create the item page (in the Item namespace = with "Item:" prefix) and the page is in the correct category (C:Skeletons in the Closet loot) it gets picked up by some regular process and eventually ends in the table.

I'm curious what the current system is for tracking needed updates and who's doing them? Also, how people can help by identifying those needed updates?

Epic Destiny's come to mind as they were never updated (after U51) to be more than a text list.

I don't believe there is any "formal" system; someone usually slaps up a simple copy/paste from a new update, and it gets formatted from there, with additions/changes to existing pages, and new articles if/as needed.

There is a wiki discussion page for "tbd" topics: https://ddowiki.com/page/Forum:Village_pump

The veteran editors have a good sense for the usual expectations for a subject (existing or new), and it simply grows from there.

Then feel free to do something about it.

Learning the basics is easy. Open the page(s) "what came before", via "Edit page", and look at the code there. That will give you a big clue as to how to format the page you want changed. (If you're lucky, you can just copy/paste big sections to get the same look!) Refer to the "Editors Guide" links for newbies (above) for an explanation of what you're seeing.

Some of the pages may be using templates (using {{x}} instead of [[x]]), and those are more complicated, but you often largely can skip those. Just do what you can, explain what you did/what still needs to be done in the "Summary" box (just below the editing section). Be sure to "Preview" (often!) before you do any Save, to make sure it has the look you want (and that you didn't break anything! ), try to keep the number of Saves to an absolute minimum (they're all listed under "Recent Changes" and "Page History"), and you're good to go.

    And Welcome to the Wiki.
