Default Wolf pet grazing hits - pet can't hit anything

I just entered Lord of Dust on epic elite on a 30 level druid. I had taken everything to have my doggy getting better except for spell buffs and druid past lives.

Yet still my doggy would mostly get grazing hits. It never said miss if i recall correctly.

Anybody else having problems with druid wolf pet or artificer pet not being able to hit stuff?

My doggy had no collar on and no armor.

Anybody knows if there is a way to get accuracy on wolf pets without using a augment - which is broken atm.

Yeah the pets have way too low stats, including to-hit bonus. They are supposed to be a class ability but hardly do anything.

    It's time for a pet/summon/hireling pass.

    Yes please!

On pets: Augments not working. Collars not working. Cannith crafted items not working.

On hirelings: AI is just too wacky.

Yeah I pulled a nice new collar only to put it on & get nothing

Which to me begs the question

Why make new collar if collar doesn’t work?

    Please fix

Pets/summons/hirelings missed years of upgrade game. They are about 2009'ish state, scaled to normal difficulty dungeons only.

Just ignore them till some pass dedicated to them, maybe except healing hirelings - those aged pretty well.

My wolf pet does very little damage
    Falls over very quickly
    Is a hate magnet.

    What's not to love?

The wolf cub that I got from Eveningstar is more effective.

Worse at least back in 2009 collars & armor worked

I generally dont even bother summoning mine. They are almost completely useless. I guess the PM skelly is the best one overall but the others just get in the way all the time.

Yeah I really wish the pets were more useful, beyond being a lever-puller. Even with druid PLs, pet-boosting destiny stuff and augment summoning, my artificer's pet rarely manages to hit anything. And even if it lands a hit, it does negligible damage.

Druid/Arti pets really need a lot of love; what should be a defining feature of these classes is instead a waste of time and resources. Even when you try to make the pet tanky, you will spend a tremendous amount of attention, time, and SP just making sure it doesn't die...

Yep DDO may be the only MMO I played where most summons/pets/hirelings are near useless.

With few exceptions: trapper hire, pocket healer/buffer, barbarian hires in low lvl quests; wolf whistle; and the skelly can be ok up till like elite.

It depends what games you played, there are loads of games where summoners are top tier builds.

In D&D, animal companion, paladin mount, where relevant.

Should be in this game too. but still...

    They don't care!

(or else at least someone would have replied to all the complaining, bugs, issues submitted lately)
Let's make it right. let's change name from Ghallanda to Laghanda, WAY more accurate and fitting.

Companions never really were a thing, their dps is to low and so is their survivability.

Summon never really been that good either.
At best they are a welcome distraction / hate magnet.
The best ones out there are:
    - Air elemental from Cove.
    - Chaos Beholder.
    - Hound from epic wolf whistle
    - Mummy Lord
    - A full party summoning werewolves.

    Special note for Arti Turret
    And the various Tar Puddings

Oh yeah, in my personal experience - the worst use of summons are in DDO, the best in tabletop D&D how ironic

Everquest 2 had decent summoner classes where your pet was an intrinsic and vital part of your class. You effectively couldn't play without it and they were pretty cool too. Pity the game nowadays has been completely destroyed by power creep and poor design choices.

I hadnt' noticed any problem with my wolf not hitting, but damage is definitely "negligible". 60 per hit when my healbot Druid could hit for hundreds himself if he bothered, or a real DPS character is hitting for at least thousands or 10s of thousands? Why even bother?

    Yeah. Some ideas:
    - Fix augments for pets
    - Fix crafted collars for pets
    - I saw a suggestion a while back to add a 3rd pet gear slot, Trinket, for pets, which would allow more gearing options including certain 2-piece sets
    - Give them some much greater amount of melee power

Except for the fact they don't give them Restoration/DW/Heal (NOT mass heal, please!) if they are high enough lv to cast them.
