    Default Dino Bone Weapon Crafting

So who has crafted a dino bone weapon? Gonna craft my first one today (two hander for maul cleric) as I just got enough raid runes to buy an attuned. What is everyone finding to be effective/not effective?

    I was thinking -

    Meltscale
    Flamefang
    Iceclaw
    Shadowhorn

About the only use-case for dino-bone crafting is to get the 4-slot minor artifact or to substitute something while you're farming for a raid weapon. So start with what raid weapon you're trying to emulate. So far as I've heard the DPS on dino bone weapons is about on-par with the free giveaway weapons each pack includes.
If I can read the dev tracker, you can too.

Well, not super crazy about the Dino Bone stuff, however I have found one combination that seems to benefit fast attackers or strikethough attackers.

Meltscale / Meltfang / Brighthorn seems to be the general consensus.

Does basic acid damage per hit, plus stacking acid damage per hit plus on hit has a chance to proc 1000 temporary HP.

Dual wielders and two handers will find all of that proccing every few seconds.
If you think you have enough HP, Icehorn is a great form of crowd control.

Yeah, I have enough HP. Is Icehorn the same as the Snowpeaks Festival augment? Because I've been using that for a while in my weapon, and haven't been too impressed. I rarely see it proc.

    Check this out.

I have the Icehorn on my Monk using Kamas. you will see that every crowd of mobs I get at least 5 frozen. It is super reliable, and I can chain lock / lockdown a single opponent completely.

None of my builds want a dino artifact. They're using Suulomade's Heart. While that item is "decent" in most places, it's absolutely astounding in VOD & Strahd, which I run quite often.

My caster rebuilds want dino weapons badly enough to go farm them. Those are only "on paper" and "in-progress" now, but the caster options look incredible -- obvious win for making it easier to build a caster gear-set.

My ranged (thrower) would like the dino throwing knife, but not badly enough to farm it.

My melee are case-by-case; eg. stick melee has SoS @ L28 with nothing else remotely as nice. My other melee likes the salty kukri too much to give it up. If salt was available on dino, it would be a consideration, but prolly not worth giving up 10 MP + 8 CON for what dino would bring.

Look pretty good. How much does it proc in reaper? Not sure if there's a save on this or not. Description doesn't really clarify. In any case my snowpeaks augment doesn't proc nearly this much. So they must be different effects (maybe Icehorn is a scaled up version of snowpeaks augment?) unless it for some reason works differently on two handers.

    Reaper? No clue.
I can test it for you later when I get home though.
I dont believe it has a save at all.

Procs like crazy otherwise, as you can see.

Ill get back to you on that.

They make ok caster sticks to be sure.

Good news is the farm for them is sincerely not difficult. Don't need to run a raid, and if you have alts its pretty breezy. You can get almost enough black pearls in one ransack, so if you have 1 alt who can solo the dragon you're good to go. Can't quite get enough mats in an afternoon. The bigger problem might be getting the blanks.

Does the block of Ice make the mob helpless?

    No.
The combat log was open so you can review it but I wasnt doing sneak attack damage nor any crit damage from being helpless.

still, locking enemies down has value.

Legendary Ice from LGS/Dino crafting don't provide helpless condition, but proc rate abut 10-20% and DC 100.

Freezing Ice from Ruby of the Snowpeaks provide helpless condition, but proc rate 5% and DC 35.

That sounds right and would make sense. Think I'll give icehorn a go then.
