Wow, we really having two days downtime because shadowblade spell didn't meet the original design specification.....
I remember when Wayfinder lost over a month of gameplay because they forgot to backup the databases,
nice to see things don't improve here.
well, it's a good thing i have other games to play while DDO is down for days. Skyrim might be old and i might occasionally evoke too much power and temporarily erase myself from the timeline, but at least my most recent time stamp is only a few minutes behind me... SSG should think about extending Hardcore by a week or two, because time limited stuff like that getting royally screwed up and down the backside as a result of constant downtime due to U56 and it's subsequent multitude of issues basically erases half the fun of the game in itself. some people don't have infinite time to just burn 48 hours with no sleep, no food and no bio breaks just to make up for the 48 hours of downtime. that's the least they can do, and while other people are asking for a bunch of free otto boxes and such, i'd just be happy with +2 weeks of HC extension.
Did someone get the sack ? Ho ho ho.
Life is but a game play well
Again. It's just really sad for me to see all the hatred towards DDO and SSG in this thread.
Come on, everyone. Please! They are just people. And the game is kinda old.
I always try to imagine me as one of the developers reading comments like
"Omg can't they do anything right?" or "You guys are a joke!" - You know...
It would feel quite disheartening
I am sure they are trying their best, and are working very hard right now!
I feel like, we should be rooting for them instead. I love DDO and i appreciate
SSG taking up the torch and trying to keep the game up and running!
Now, i really don't know anything about coding, so i won't talk about
anything like that here, saying what they should or shouldn't do (or have done).
Just... Hang in there, everyone I am sure it's gonna be soon.
Dear SSG, please would you hire two new team members:
1. Release manager
So we have a proper patch process that includes quick rollback to pre-patch, so you can fix these issues on your own time not on customers time.
2. Business manager
I mean Products. Pricing, Promotion, and Customer Service, because the track record is one of SSG acting like it doesn't want or need any money, and does not have any actual paying customers or any kind or obligation to them.
Thankyou.
Without wanting to be horrible to the devs - the players who pay them are just people too. I think in situations like this we'd all be a lot happier if updates came out slower rather than the game being down for extended periods.
Appreciate it's just a game but it's something a lot of us do in our downtime and a lot of us also have limited downtime, so finishing a hard day at work and sitting down to play a chill game but the servers are down thanks to another rushed update is a bit of a ****ter.
Though all the peo ple going absolutely **** and threatening to sue are maybe not dealing with that upset well!
This is going to be unpopular, but I can't help it....
The players who are flaming SSG for the travesty that has become of updating this game is DESERVED! Seriously, when is the last time we remember an update going off without a hitch (hotfix, extended downtime)? Well, don't rack your brains too much because it's been quite a while.
This game uses old engines, old coding, and bad planning. I agree that changing the TR system from having a TR cache at all would be a great option, but how long would we be down then? I am afraid of ANY change that SSG has to offer because I KNOW it will cause bugs, more lag and likely extra downtime. I have seen this game change existing features that work fine, and afterwards it's worse than it was before they messed with it (i.e. bank tabs). How can we foster an environment for new players, when every time an update is introduced, it causes more problems - that then require more updates - which then requires more downtime?
Players want continuity and reliability over "new gadgets". Fix the lag before making a new class. Make existing systems WORK instead of being a hassle (TR cache, crafting). I know it's unpopular to critisize these days, but SSG needs to know that players like myself who have been here since the beginning, are what is keeping this game alive. LISTEN to us and let's make this game that we all love and pay for a worthwhile and rewarding place to play again.
Oh, and as always....THANKS DDO.....

That's fair enough, and I wouldn't mind knowing how it works from a high level. But I anticipate the nitty gritty of it would just... make me spend way too much time looking at it. So maybe I'd be the same way as you, but that's why I'd hate to look at it... I get enough problems looking at my own code after X number of months and then thinking: "What the heck was I on when I wrote this"? There's always a better way to do something
Is the glass half full or half empty? It would have been horrible if they rushed some patch last night that would have broken the game even more. So take your time and keep us informed on what is going on.
The game should be back up Friday when they come back to work I predict 1:00 before there lunch time.
Guild leader Thelanis - Rexit, Guild leader Gallanda -Rextexx, Guild leader Khyber - Rexwar, and former guild leader Argonnessen - Rexonater
I know much of this is with the bank system, but I have a question someone might know.
I thought maybe why cant they make the Shared bank account have a huge capacity.. obviously one that we would have to buy to expand how big it got. To the point of like 5000 capacity and then with us being able to make tabs we could organize everything into those tabs.. like Pots tab, level 5 gear tab, level 10 gear tab .. cosmetics tab etc.. Would it help with server load of they just got rid of the TR cache? This would require making everything in game bound to account probably. Everything needs to be in your shared bank before you TR. but I guess that wont work incase people just dont have enough shared bank space.
Im just trying to think if there was a huge Shared bank capacity, then we could delete our 15 mules full of items they keep creating , then we can delete all those mules from the server.. would that free up server load? and people constantly logging in and out going from mule to mule looking for stuff?

For someone who has to work way too much and has limited time to play this downtime hits hard. i am with the majority of players who are asking for some type of offer to say "thanks for being patient,". But also I hope the developers will consider offering the otto's boxes and double points for sale in the store for the weekend. I don't mind spending money on this game to help keep it going. The boxes help me in that I can make up for not having enough real life time to devote to the game I love. Still so much I want to do and accomplish in the game.
Whoever coordinated the efforts to restore the worlds and communications to the playerbase on when they would be back up seriously needs to rethink their strategy. We were told they would be back up by Thursday evening but the goal posts just kept getting pushed back further and further. SSG needs to do a better job at knowing when to "call it" and set better expectations for their players. Many of the playerbase have limited schedules but will be prone to hanging on hour by hour when there's a downtime event especially when there are intermittent "soon" updates, only to be disappointed like what happened here. Underpromise and overdeliver. Next time if things are looking this bad, even if it is optimistic learn to "call it" if the unexpected downtime stretches past a predetermined point, even if your dev team continues to work on the game into the night. SSG can do better.
