yes, frustration happens. Helpful, it is not so much. Just so you feel you are being dealt a good card, let me share what happens to one other MMO I play, at that time they have 2 servers plus a test server.

Soooo.... on that MMO a regularly scheduled downtime KILLED one of their servers FOR GOOD.

That looks like great communication from the Developers of that game.

Oh, by the way, it's already later this morning (11:55 EST) and our servers are not back up yet so I'll hold back on the celebration for now.

So they provided a false hope start time again, late morning. Some persons say this is spaghetti, when you work on code for 15+ years you know it. They are concerned with a rollback. When they cause a problem they penalize the playerbase, when the problem is used by the playerbase they penalize the player base. They cant get it up or keep it up. They still have not fixed the bug that causes crashes on Dino Island with the ASP32.dll file.

Started playing again after 2 years. Subscribed Monday. Bought Isle of Dread Wednesday. Great show of the state of the game I guess.

While I feel for you (call it bad luck or bad timing) it still doesn't say anything about the 'state of the game'. These things sometimes happen...

Hirelings are really just in game to pull levers and perhaps heal you after combat is over.

lol my hirelings try to heal me after i'm dead or try to raise me before the timer is off and when the time ends they just look at your stone then die them selves

We are working to reopen the game worlds, and are currently expecting the worlds to reopen late this morning (Eastern time, -4 GMT).

As Jellyfish and others said, it's a game, just a few digital 0's and 1's that really, really shouldn't affect your real life that much. If it does....perhaps it's time to reassess the amount of time and attention you're putting towards this and perhaps go outside and hang out with real life people?

The devs are *fully* aware of the situation, are doing their best to rectify it, and as evidenced by past issues, will probably throw in some goodies to compensate for the down time.

Grab a book*, go for a walk, do something with someone - that'll be a far more rewarding experience down the road....

As Jellyfish and others said, it's a game, just a few digital 0's and 1's that really, really shouldn't affect your real life that much. If it does....perhaps it's time to reassess the amount of time and attention you're putting towards this and perhaps go outside and hang out with real life people?

The devs are *fully* aware of the situation, are doing their best to rectify it, and as evidenced by past issues, will probably throw in some goodies to compensate for the down time.

Grab a book*, go for a walk, do something with someone - that'll be a far more rewarding experience down the road....

The devs are *fully* aware of what exactly? Are the devs *fully* aware of how long a fix will take and if so would they make the rest of us *fully* aware? Regardless of the state of the servers, a bit of customer service wouldn't go amiss.

I work on code that's half as old as DDO (7-8 years) and it takes our team sometimes WEEKS to fix issues (spaghetti code, all kinds of bad practices right from the start of the project).

It's a miracle DDO has such little downtime.

wow Comfy you have been here since 2009 and this is your first post welcome aboard the boards. This is the longest outage i have seen so far so they will rant and rave but they truly love it here.
