I tried the reset thing and did the massive download/update for my MAC on a wine platform. Still stuck at that C++ screen.

I have tried repair. I have waited until today's patch came out. I have done a clean install. The patcher hangs as well at the C++ screen and eventually goes to Game Launcher Errors with a blank screen describing the errors...Any more word on this Cordovan?
After years of working on a Mac with Wine I also have the error:
'Installing: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistribution Package (x64)
But is that not the problem, it tries to install the x64 version and we need the x32 version.
I tried to change it in the options (rectangle pointing down) but I can not set any of the options.
Is this the right way to go or is it something else?
Hope the override helped. Since I couldn't shake the zone in crashing I did a complete uninstall/reinstall and retested and I no longer need the override. Wine and Lutris both leave stuff in the home directory, so you have to be careful to clean that out, but all seems fine.
On Manjaro, Lutris 0.5.10.1-2 from official repositories; Wine 7.15-1 also from official repositories.
ive not had time to actually play the game, but i have logged in, rolled my dailies, zoned to ships cargo hold, and interacted with my bank.
short answer:
i had to flush my dns. thats what fixed my client crashing after server selection. im running windows 10.
- Click the Start button in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
- On the Start Menu, click within the search box and in the field type "cmd" without the quotations
- A program named "Command Prompt" should appear. Right-click on Command Prompt and select "Run as Administrator."
- A command prompt will now appear. In this window type in "ipconfig /flushdns" with no quotes. Once it says successful, reboot your machine and try accessing the game once again.
the long answer:
whereas they did not help me, these steps may help others. they are the steps i was told to take my tech support before i got to the one that fixed my issue.
- rename the ddo subfolder in the Documents folder and add "old" to the front of the name and try to run the game.
- they then looked at a dxdiag report and msinfo report i sent them. from this they had me do the following to make sure the game was using my installed video card (instead of the onboard card)
- Open your Windows Settings
- Go to System > Display > Graphics Settings
- Click on the Browse button and look for lotroclient.exe and lotroclient64.exe (inside the installation folder, the 64 launcher is inside the subfolder called x64), and click on Add
- Once added, click on one of them and then click on Options, choose High Performance. Repeat the steps for the other version of the launcher.
- they also recommended "trying to adjust the UDP port in your router to 9000 - 9100 as this is the port used by the game" but i did not make it to this step as the dns flush worked for me.
hope this helps someone
People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.
I tried Ydrofians suggestions above but those did not help. It did cause something new to occur in that Im getting a window at launch telling me what the display settings are. Its launching in 1024 and seems to be going along fine until I see in that new window that my display is being changed to 1366x768 then the client closes.
You state to "select the reset resolution checkbox", is that "Reset the game display settings" under Options>Repair?
Im hoping Im misunderstanding you because I tried that and that didnt work for me either.

I have also been having this issue. Playing on a Mac and the launcher gets stuck on [Installing: "Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)"...]
I also used to get alerts about missing DLL files, unknown if related or not
Saekee, PedXing20, Tricosene, Pepi_l, CaptainCoonCo, and anyone else on a Mac stuck at the “Windows C++” error in the launcher - have you seen this post I made in the Mac assistance threads? https://forums.ddo.com/forums/showth...63#post6539363
I’ll summarise what I found worked for me, rather than risk boring the non-Mac users in on this thread, but I’m hoping you might be able to use Activity Monitor to kill one one of the wine-preloader processes that’s trying to download the C++ software (which you don’t need) and then get back to things working as they were pre-U56.
If you hadn’t seen it, are still stuck, and want to try it, then I tried to put a step-by-step in the linked post. I hope it works for you.
(Edit: found more Mac users in the thread!)

I logged in yesterday, no problems. I tried logging in today, and I keep getting an error, 'Failed to queue to server x80004005'.
It doesn't matter what server I try to log in on, its the same message. I re-downloaded the game, trouble-shooted windows, and installed any necessary updates. I even deleted AVAST Antivirus Software and went with Windows Defender.
So what is the solution?
