    Everything seen on the preview server, Lamannia, is not final and is subject to change or removal before live release.


    Greetings! Preview 2 of Update 56 is opening with a first look at the loot from Temple of Elemental Evil, as well as any bug fixes and changes to features based on the last round of Lamannia feedback, today as of 1pm EDT on Tuesday, August 16th! It is expected to remain open into the afternoon (EDT) of Thursday, August 18th.

    During this second preview we are offering a first look at the new treasure intended for Temple of Elemental Evil. You can continue to try out the new Archetypes (more info about them in the Producer's Letter by clicking here) as well as the updated Character Bank. To see the new Temple of Elemental Evil treasure, visit the Test Dojo and speak with The Loot Guy.

    To provide a little more detail on what you can expect to see in this preview, please review the items below:


    Big Picture Notes


    • Temple of Elemental Evil
      • The rewards for Temple of Elemental evil have been updated.LAMANNIA NOTE: Temple of Elemental Evil quests are not available for preview on Lamannia this week. Visit the Test Dojo and speak with The Loot Guy to view the Temple's new treasure.

    • Archetypes - (Overview thread)

    • Character Bank Update
      • Character Bank UI has been updated with new functionality and performance improvements! You will begin with the same amount of Character Bank space that you had on your account before the release
      • LAMANNIA NOTE: Remember that Lamannia doesn't always remember your favor or purchase history from the Live servers and is based on what you've done or purchased on Lamannia. A Character Copy may not be fully sufficient to replicate your Live favor or Store state on Lamannia.
      • LAMANNIA KNOWN ISSUE: Attempting to purchase the existing DDO Store extra Character Bank space might not function correctly. This will be fixed for an upcoming Lamannia preview.


    Bugfixes


    • Familiars from Feydark Illusionist and Falcons from Falconry now remain active while you are dead
    • Feydark Illusionist Familiars no longer fall through the world
    • Feydark Illusionist Familiars no longer spawn twice and then one explodes
    • Familiars and Falcons no longer block mouse selection
    • Single Weapon Specialty now correctly applies in all situations.
    • Fury of the Wild's Destiny Mantle now persists correctly through logout.
    • The Shadow debuff from Shadowdancer now properly drops 1 stack at a time
    • Unyielding's Lay on Hands no longer prevents you from using it based on your Charisma score if your Con score is higher
    • Warchanter's Iced Edges no longer drops on logout.
    • Nerve Venom in Shiradi no longer has an erroneous DC
    • Sunblades should now respect two-handed fighting rules more accurately
    • US' resurrection no longer erroneously requires 20 levels, is now 30 as intended
    • Tabaxi's Dex to Damage now works correctly in Animal Form.
    • Weapons without an ability score modifier to damage no longer show a negative base damage rating.
    • Perfected Darkstorm Helm now has a caster level
    • The camera has been adjusted such that mouse look will no longer occasionally turn your character 180 degrees and make you look up or down.
    • Party and Guild chat disconnects should no longer take as long to reconnect.
    • A large variety of text bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed.



    Gameplay Changes

    • Great Weapon Aptitude (ability found in many racial trees) now allows Natural Fighting as one of its prerequisites instead of just Two Handed Fighting
    • Khyber Dragonshards no longer drop. Recipes that use Khyber Dragonshards now use Siberys Dragonshards instead.
    • Eldritch Knight dice now work on Shields
    • All level versions of the Abishai set is now profane instead of artifact bonus
    • There are 3 new Gameplay options:
      • Gather Trap Parts: (default True) while true, disabling traps will cause you to gather Trap Parts from them. Turn this off to stop gathering trap parts from traps you disable.
      • Experimental Tumble Controls: (default False) while true, pressing Block while moving will cause you to Tumble instead of causing you to Block. If you continue to hold Block, you will end the tumble in the blocking state.
      • Disable Full Character Effect Overlays: (default False) while true, full character effect overlays on your character will be disabled. Affected visuals:
        • Stoneskin
        • Barkskin
        • Goldskin
        • Fire Shield (Cold)
        • Fire Shield (Hot)

    • There are two new spells:
      • True Seeing, Mass: Cast True Seeing on yourself and your allies. Clr/Fvs 8
      • Freedom of Movement, Mass: Cast Freedom of Movement on yourself and your nearby allies. Clr/Fvs/Drd 7

    • Reaper Crafting's cost has been reduced to 75 Reaper Fragments.
    • You may now dissolve Reaper items at the second Reaper NPC at any amount of reaper points (note: crafting using these ingredients still requires 50 Reaper points)
    • Reaper crafting no longer accepts level 1 or 2 items
    • Warchanter iced edges now scales with spellpower
    • House J Favor buffs now have a "give me the works" option that charges the total plat you'd get from just clicking them all individually.'
    • House P Favor buffs now last 60 minutes.
    • Fred can now combine Dragonshards for you.
    • Spells that may target undead friends (aka Inflict spells) can now validate the caster as a redirected target (aka be cast targeting the caster implicitly) as long as the caster is undead.
    • The spells Bless, Prayer, and Bane all now have a cooldown of 10 seconds.
    • The Winter Hunt buff from Nature's Warrior core 5 now grants +5 Cold Spell Crit Chance and +15% Cold Spell Crit Damage
    • Aasimar and Scourge core 3 no longer provides a bonus to Healing Hands charges
    • Aasimar and Scourge core 5 no longer provides a recharge ability to Healing Hands charges, and also now provides +2 healing hands charges
    • Angel of Vengeance core abilities no longer provide bonuses to caster level and max caster level
    • Base Attack Bonus is now capped at 25.
    • Tiefling's Incinerations are now: +2% and +3% Fire Spell Critical Damage.
    • Holy Smite, Order's Wrath, Chaos Hammer, and Unholy Blight now deal 1d6+4 damage per caster level.
    • Completionist is now automatically granted upon reaching level 3. Current characters with Completionist have been given a free feat respec token.
    • Swords to Plowshares now grants Handwraps a +1 Morale bonus to Critical Threat Range


    UI Changes

    • The XP Bar on the character sheet has been removed to facilitate Archetype and Class Displays. If you would like to view your character's total level progress, you may rotate through available XP bars by pressing the XP Bar Toggle at the bottom left hand corner of your screen, next to the & symbol.
    • HP and SP tooltips on the character sheet now do math correctly

    Sacred Fist changes also aren't appearing in game, and I saw someone mention on the Stormsinger thread that T5 Horn of Thunder is still breaking things. It sounds like we're still on the Preview 1 build. My recommendation is to be patient; we'll get a look at that soon.

    So are we getting more bank space or a "warehouse" to keep all the things we collected over the years? Or we still need more mules to carry for us?

    I copied over my Racial and Class Completionist character. I got the feat respec token, but I still don't have the Heroic Completionist feat showing on my character sheet. Also, I unequipped all my items and untrained all my heroic and epic enhancements. I am now showing the following "Feat bonus" to each of my stats:

    STR: +3
    DEX: +6
    CON: +5 <-- This seems weird as Dwarf + Warforged + Racial Completionist should only be +4
    INT: +4
    WIS: +4
    CHA: +6

    EDIT: This is still true after the update/reboot.

    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    The Charisma also seems odd, as it should only be +5 for Half Elf, Tiefling, Dragonborn, and Racial Completionist. One or the other could have possibly been an Aasimar Bond. Both might indicate Reaper tree cores, perhaps?

    Perfectly acceptable.

    Angel of Vengeance core abilities no longer provide bonuses to caster level and max caster level
    How it currently is:

    Each core enhancement in this tree grants +1 Caster Level and +2 Max Caster Level with the following spells: Nimbus of Light, Searing Light, Sun Bolt, Cometfall, Divine Punishment, Flame Strike, and Fire Storm.
    Why does this nerf need to happen? Nothing in this list is a broken spell/SLA. If the levels are considered too excess then why not drop the bonus down? The more important question is what is being added to offset this nerf? Are you really taking all this away and calling it complete?

    The spells Bless, Prayer, and Bane all now have a cooldown of 10 seconds.
    I'm just curious what this change is about. Just strikes me as such an odd change to make.

    Reaper Crafting's cost has been reduced to 75 Reaper Fragments.
    I've been running nothing but reaper on my normal server account for roughly three months and this is still unobtainable. Why not drop it to a reasonable number?

    Reaper crafting no longer accepts level 1 or 2 items
    Dropping the number to 75 doesn't bring balance for the people who were not "exploiting" the system with borderlands.

    I think this is to balance the Dark Apostate archetype. All of those spells can now do AOE damage.

    No new bank space yet, the system change is the first step towards it (as the old system was at its limit). So test the heck out of it, so we can get it player proof.
    Nothing in this game is essential, unless you are a power-gaming & unimaginative lemming who follows everyone else, without having any form of creativity or original thought rolling around your brainpain...

    I agree that healing hands is a bit OP, and takes a core paladin class feature and turns it into an even better racial feature. How about instead of nerfing the uses per rest into the ground, keep the Aasimar cores the same as on live and change healing hands:

    Healing Hands: You gain the Lay on Hands feature, that can be used once per rest to heal you for ( 10 + *1/2* Character level ) x Wisdom modifier. If you have Lay on Hands from the paladin class, it now heals for ( 10 + [higher of Paladin level or 1/2 Character level] ) x [higher of Wisdom or Charisma modifier]. If you have Lay on Hands from Unyielding Sentinel, it now heals for ( 10 + Character level ) x [higher of Wisdom or Constitution modifier].

    This would still allow people to make extensive use of healing hands without it being OP or outshining paladins, and let items/feats/enhancements/destinies that give extra Lay on Hands uses or let them recharge also work with healing hands.

    Alternatively, if you are set on going from 7 total regenerating uses to 4, move 1 of the uses from the lvl 16 core to the lvl 7 core (so 1/1/1 rather than 1/0/2), and still allow them to regen.

    Better yet, give decent healing options to everyone so classes without good heals don't need to feel pigeonholed into Aasimar. Maybe have the wand and scroll enhancements add 1/2/3 caster levels, scale 33/67/100% and also apply to potions. And/or add better potions. Something. As is, my casters can easily solo r4-6, while my non-caster, non-Aasimar melees often have trouble 'soloing' r1-4 with a hire, and hope that the hire doesn't do something idiotic (which they do most of the time anyway).

    This is nice and all, but as a handwrap monk player, we are feat starved. I cant seem to find a slot for this due to unnecessary feats (looking at you Combat Expertise) I have to take for Whirlwind Attack.

    I would suggest the use of Precision in place of Combat Expertise, since when you take Precision, you cannot have both toggled on at the same time, hence a wasted feat.

    Please to not take this as "lets make WWA easier to get to, but lets reduce its dps". As a monk handwrap this is the only DPS we have!

    The bank tab renaming mechanic is not intuitive. Perhaps when you click the renaming arrow all the text for the name gets highlighted?

    The ability isn't OP on standard servers. It only becomes a "balance" issue when playing on Hard Core. Which means its a straight up nerf and the game is changing for a seasonal event. So the only inference that I can extrapolate from this is: They want players to purchase more healing (over time) potions from the DDO store. Hard Core has become their infusion of cash and so finding any and all ways to maximize profits has become the priority.

    I pretty much agree with this. It'd be a great way to rebalance Aasimar while tying its value into both class or destiny ability.

      • Disable Full Character Effect Overlays: (default False) while true, full character effect overlays on your character will be disabled. Affected visuals:
        • Stoneskin
        • Barkskin
        • Goldskin
        • Fire Shield (Cold)
        • Fire Shield (Hot)

    • There are two new spells:
      • True Seeing, Mass: Cast True Seeing on yourself and your allies. Clr/Fvs 8
      • Freedom of Movement, Mass: Cast Freedom of Movement on yourself and your nearby allies. Clr/Fvs/Drd 7

    • Reaper Crafting's cost has been reduced to 75 Reaper Fragments.
    • You may now dissolve Reaper items at the second Reaper NPC at any amount of reaper points (note: crafting using these ingredients still requires 50 Reaper points)
    • Reaper crafting no longer accepts level 1 or 2 items
    • Warchanter iced edges now scales with spellpower
    • House J Favor buffs now have a "give me the works" option that charges the total plat you'd get from just clicking them all individually.'
    • House P Favor buffs now last 60 minutes.
    • Fred can now combine Dragonshards for you.
    • Spells that may target undead friends (aka Inflict spells) can now validate the caster as a redirected target (aka be cast targeting the caster implicitly) as long as the caster is undead.
    • The spells Bless, Prayer, and Bane all now have a cooldown of 10 seconds.
    • The Winter Hunt buff from Nature's Warrior core 5 now grants +5 Cold Spell Crit Chance and +15% Cold Spell Crit Damage
    • Aasimar and Scourge core 3 no longer provides a bonus to Healing Hands charges
    • Aasimar and Scourge core 5 no longer provides a recharge ability to Healing Hands charges, and also now provides +2 healing hands charges
    • Angel of Vengeance core abilities no longer provide bonuses to caster level and max caster level
    • Base Attack Bonus is now capped at 25.
    • Tiefling's Incinerations are now: +2% and +3% Fire Spell Critical Damage.
    • Holy Smite, Order's Wrath, Chaos Hammer, and Unholy Blight now deal 1d6+4 damage per caster level.
    • Completionist is now automatically granted upon reaching level 3. Current characters with Completionist have been given a free feat respec token.
    • Swords to Plowshares now grants Handwraps a +1 Morale bonus to Critical Threat Range


    UI Changes

    • The XP Bar on the character sheet has been removed to facilitate Archetype and Class Displays. If you would like to view your character's total level progress, you may rotate through available XP bars by pressing the XP Bar Toggle at the bottom left hand corner of your screen, next to the & symbol.
    • HP and SP tooltips on the character sheet now do math correctly
