Default Every build has a favored weapon

Every character build has a favored weapon. If a class or race uses a weapon more efficiently, players are forced to play that class or race over and over again. Halflings, what do they got, +1 weapon damage while sneaking, only One Throw? Warhammers, pathetic. No spears, another two-handed weapon choice. Who uses a maul as a barbarian? Fix Warhammers and Mauls: these weapons should crit x4. Try being hit in the head with a railroad tie or a sledgehammer. When using a medium sized weapon, pen and paper rules allow full power attack to be applied when using the weapon two handed. Can you see the diversity of a barbarian, and how your community would cheer you, for a pass to two handed weaponry?

Monks should be able to choose what Ki weapon they use without forced to take a secondary class or secondary enhancement tree. Wisdom to attack/damage is a feat in pen and paper. Can I please choose my own Ki weapon as a class feature?

Sun Elves, natural clerics, should be able to take any weapon as a favored weapon. Why on earth would Sun Elves not use INT for their primary cleric stat?

Consider a favored skill??? Why is bluff misused and underused and hidden? If you play a sorc, do you rank up bluff? No. Make the skill useful, please. Lower enemy spell pen and saves by use of bluff. Use Shattermantle and poison programing for sorc bluff.

In new wave D&D, light weapons by default use your dex for attack and damage.

So many fixes can be made.

Your weapon is the most important piece of equipment.

Almost hate to say it, but no, they don't.

A "favored weapon" is a Deity thing - it's a very specific in-game phrase that has a specific meaning.

Builds tend to have an "optimal" weapon, a go-to choice that is obvious and preferable, a weapon that is the favorite of min-maxers. That is not the same (not unless you think that using a weapon that is classy makes it a "class weapon" ).

And, yes, I know what you mean, but still you're confusing things unnecessarily. Just saying.
