Question about dissolving

It used to be that when I dissolved an item into an essence, I'd get a message (sometimes) that I earned some platinum.

None of my characters, even the low level chrafters, have gotten this message in a long time.

Did this change?

It's typically only [+] enchanted Weapons and Armour that will give you platinum when you use the Dissolver for Cannith Crafting. Dissolving Clothing and Jewellery typically won't give any platinum whatsoever.

Also said Dissolvers may need to be in your Character Inventory or Ingredients Bag to actually receive any Platinum generated. Also check you are reading the correct Chat channel output, which says how much Crafting XP and ingredients you get from the process (it doesn't always show displayed across the main screen itself). It's still working correctly as of today.

Confirmed (except I've always observed it as a hard rule, no "typically" about it).
