    Default Iconic dwarf

Ok guys, the Trailblazer is awesome but as a person who prefers the master race of Dwarf I feel diminished... Not just in stature but Dwarves were one of the original races and still there is no Iconic Dwarf. Is this a racial thing? Do we not embrace little people in DDO? I demand justice! Free the Iconic DWARF!

    1) Non of the iconics are actually iconic of their race or class
    2) Since the first wave, all Iconics have been a new race+old class
    3) Expect Iconic Dwarf to have a poor race/class combo, and to have nonstandard dwarf stats (you might even lose that "master race" +2 Con bonus (Corrupted Wish: Dwarf Iconic and Sorcerer Iconic released together as the iconic dwarf sorc with 8 str/10 dex/ 8 con/ 6 wis/ 8 int/ 8 cha statline)

Default D&D: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Dwarves

D&D: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Dwarves

Dwarves are an iconic race that have popped up in many fantasy settings, including D&D. Here are some things you might have missed about them.

Dwarves are a classic go-to race for many players of Dungeons and Dragons — it's impossible to think of D&D without them. Despite there now being quite a range of races to play as, from crafty kenkus to mechanical warforged, there is a sense of familiarity with dwarves that has players going back to play them time and again.

    10 Moradin Sculpted The Dwarves

The dwarves were meticulously handcrafted by their god Moradin. Moradin created them out of metal and gems that he imbued with souls as his breath cooled them down. Many dwarves are very prideful of this fact. They will usually boast to elves that Moradin lovingly crafted them, while elves were created accidentally by their god, Corellon.

Dwarves have quite an affinity with Moradin. He was said to have walked among the dwarves, teaching them how to forge great weapons and tools. Moradin also made sure to keep them in line and on a good path. Well, he tried to, at least...

9 Abbathor Tempts All Dwarves To Be Greedy

Moradin isn't the only deity connected to the dwarves. The dwarf deities, known as the Mordinsamman, are mostly a mixture of good and neutral alignments, except for one: Abbathor. Abbathor is the great master of greed — a neutral evil deity known for trickery. Abbathor acts as the dark side of the coin to Moradin's guidance and desire for perfection.

The stereotype of dwarves being fixated on gold comes from Abbathor. He influences every dwarf, tempting them in subtle ways to see greed as a necessity to keep their families strong and safe. He attempts to convince dwarves to take shortcuts and is an advocate for change rather than stability. Most dwarves ignore Abbathor's influence.

    8 Having A Purpose Defines A Dwarf

It is well known that dwarves are prideful of their craftsmanship. This pride comes directly from Moradin's teachings. Work is a way of life for them, and they feel a connection to their god when they are at the forge or creating magnificent structures. They see this as following in Moradin's footsteps, striving to create something worthy of his respect.

For dwarves, there is a desire to create a legacy. They constantly strive to improve their abilities and for their families to continue from their teachings and surpass them in skill. Each dwarf wants to create something that will stand the test of time, and bring them a little bit closer to Moradin in the process.

7 A Noble Dwarf Must Learn All Professions Of The Clan

Just being born as a direct ancestor of the first dwarves isn't enough to rule the kingdom. Even leadership is seen as a craft in dwarven culture and requires patience and practice to prepare oneself for the responsibility.

Young nobles must learn about every aspect of dwarven society. They will work as apprentices for every group, such as learning how to work at the forges. This vigorous training acts to inform the noble of every intricacy of the clan and helps them form strong bonds with the key families. The clan's elder nobles will observe their progress to see if they are indeed cut out for a leadership role.

6 The Duergar Were Enslaved Dwarves

The history behind the duergar is quite tragic. They were a clan of Shield dwarves convinced that the most precious jewels were deep underground. The clan became obsessed with finding them, but soon enough, they dug too deep and fell right into the trap of the Illithid (also known as Mind Flayers). These dwarves were enslaved and experimented on, developing new abilities and becoming corrupt and vindictive. They were eventually able to escape this torturous existence, but the damage had already been done.

5 Forgotten Duergar Have Turned Into Derro

Derro are yet another evolution from dwarves that have been corrupted. Derro are said to be duergar that were unable to escape the Mind Flayers. Completely abandoned and isolated, they now live deep in the Underdark and have become entirely wild and savage. Derro are also innate to magic, often becoming sorcerers called Savants.

While some duergar could possibly be redeemed, it might be too late for the derro. Most derro have some form of what Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes calls Derro Madness and have little interest in returning to the old ways of dwarven society. With the right subclass, The scheming derro could make for quite exciting characters to play as.

4 Many Dwarves Join The Hammers Of Moradin

Dwarves have had many enemies over the years, with dragons attacking from the skies and duergar digging up from below. But, the primary enemy of the dwarves will always be the orcs. Their god, Moradin, is in an endless feud with Gruumsh, an orc god of destruction. Because of this rivalry, Moradin has set the dwarves with the seemingly impossible task of wiping out all orcs in existence.

The dwarves formed the Hammers of Moradin: a group of warrior-priests that will actively seek out enemies of the dwarves. This is quite a contrast to the usual dwarven tactic of prioritizing defense. It is considered quite an honor to be a part of the Hammers of Moradin. Many devout paladins and clerics will join the cause from all clans across the land, vowing to rid the world of Moradin's enemies.

3 Drinking Alcohol Unlocks Powerful Memories For Dwarves

Dwarves are tough and can take quite a hit in a fight, but not only that, they can handle their drink incredibly well. While others might use alcohol to forget past deeds, dwarves receive the opposite effect. A drunk dwarf will be able to relive extremely vivid memories from their past. This is made even more potent when drinking alongside their fellow clan members. Drinking allows them to look back at great moments from their adventures and history.

The duergar have a very different attitude to alcohol. Reliving memories can be pretty traumatic for the duergar, as they might recall their ancestor's memories of being enslaved by the Mind Flayers. While dwarves drink to celebrate, duergar will mostly avoid alcohol altogether.

2 Giants Like To Enslave Dwarves

In the world of D&D, Giants are quite terrifying threats in general, but especially for dwarves (and not just because of the height difference). Giants are aware of the incredible work ethic of dwarves and will frequently enslave them. Focusing on work gives the enslaved dwarves a slither of joy even in hard times. Giants are well aware and make use of this fact.

Fortunately for dwarves, their strongholds are incredibly difficult for giants to navigate, so they rarely invade. Dwarves on the road still need to be wary, though, as if a giant does not enslave them, they'll devour them instead.

1 There Is A Dwarven Song That Takes Over A Day To Sing

Dwarves are very proud of their history and enjoy celebrating the accomplishments achieved over their long lifespan. One particular song is called The Dirge of Delzoun. It is a tale that recounts the history of Delzoun, the northern kingdom of the Shield dwarves.

Singing this song demonstrates a dwarven bard's talent in both singing and history. It is performed only in dwarvish and takes well over a day to complete. Being a song about history, it isn't even finished yet. Dirgekeeper Oilyn Grimtongue is the only dwarf allowed to add more to the ballad. So, as more epic historical events take place, the song will continue to grow.

Too bad they used monk for Tabaxi. Could have had dwarven monks with monk boosting enhancements that trigger when they drank pots. With a T5 or capstone to make potions of wonder less detrimental and more wonderful.

Dwarves have a... let's just say, "pungent" odor to them.
They definitely should have Stink Cloud as a class ability/feature.

    Does it really matter?

SSG could make the Iconic Dwarf come from the Forgotten Realms.

Absolutly +1. Bring them Alchemist, or whatever, I like Dwarves in all their flavors... (said the Giant).

Sure they could, but the only good thing that comes out of FR is 4x saga xp from overlapping quests.

Been saying for a while - hill & mountain dwarves as the basic & variant in the same way as elves have been done, then add the iconic as a duregar sorcerer, which would also play off nicely thematically against the deep gnome wizard.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

This ship has sailed but I had hoped the Iconic barbarian was going to be dwarf or duergar, preferably with some buffage for Throw Your Weight Around to make CON-based builds more appealing.

But now that they've expanded the F2P classes, that means more Iconic options in the future, so maybe we'll get, say, an Iconic dwarf druid someday. Does that make any sense within lore?

If there's one Dwarven Druid, that hardly qualifies as "iconic."

Default Idea that will never happen

    Delete razorclaw shifter

replace with weretouched master iconic for shifter (druid focuses on special wild shape)

make dwarven kuldjargh (battlerager) barbarian iconic

-FUN FACT!- kuldjargh is dwarvish for "axe idiot"
