Very doable for those who full time ddo spending 16hrs a day plugging away on lives.

You only need about 350 quests to hit 5k, which takes 50-100 hours if you don't die. That is easily doable playing 10 hours a week for two months, let alone 3.

I could do without the Roman numeral branding on the mount. It looks like it was issued, rather than earned. Kind of reminds of a Halloween version of a Kentucky Derby contestant.

Hardcore league IV they had to remove the roman numerals because the mirrored side of the horse said "VI". I wonder if this will happen with this steed as well. It seemed like they had no easy way to make "IV" show up on both sides of the horse.

The vast majority of deaths on hardcore are completely preventable aside from lag and other internet issues. I see most people die from traps or champion monsters, dying because of ego, inexperience, unpreparedness, or forgetfulness.

Start a group - I usually don't on normal servers, but on HCL I will out of necessity. Usually someone joins.

Last season, there was a strong Asian presence, especially from China and Korea. They tended to make fewer LFG posts, instead relying on joining LFGs and making groups from their friend list.

I had a weird schedule in HCL5 and so I played during all sorts of timezones and never really had a problem finding groups for quests, but I also didn't wait until the last moment. It gets harder to find groups as hardcore winds down for a bunch of reasons:

• People have gotten their rewards
• There is not enough time remaining
• People have burnt out
• People have died enough times

"Interesting"? I'm doing a level 2 solo quest and I get *that* message without knowing what it exactly meant until I found out the "interesting" way.

If you haven't logged in yet, when you do so you ought to pay attention to all the death messages and what the causes are.

What is different about the game while playing in the Hardcore League?
There is a level lockout to prevent characters from running quests too far over level. (Base level +2, or effective level on elite.)

Yeah dying from ego may be preventable; but dying from inexperience, unpreparedness, or forgetfulness is not a preventable state for everyone. Your implying that everyone should know all the quest (time spent researching if not known through out) Prepare for the level cap change (which effects MANY aspects of your survivability) And remember everything! I have been playing since head start and have a pretty good memory but its not like its perfect. I wouldn't accuse anyone of failing because they cant invest as much time (which would be considerable this season) with the many cards stacked against them. Instead I would congratulate those that succeeded than accuse those that failed.

Last season I had 2 characters die due to lag spikes. That is two wasted lives with hours under their belt lost to an unavoidable circumstance. I griped for a minute, then moved on to try again. With some claiming to only have a few hours per week to play. I am expecting that they wont be able to go their first time through with no deaths. Kudos to those that make it and the way I see it for those that don't. Hey at least you gave it a try and didn't cry it was too hard!
