I reported a problem with Isle of Dread related stuff since early June. The game was randomly crashing while either wearing the cosmetics (very infrequently) or using either of the hirelings (frequently). With Isle of Dread itself while in the zone the game crashes every 3 to 5 mins, i have reported this a few times now and yet no one is responding to the reports made, even something like working on it but difficult to find. Support is pathetic. You guys are quick at bugs that benefit the players but not quick at bugs that are detrimental to the players.

I was crashing several times a session in Isle of Dread the first couple of times that I played it. I updated my graphics driver and have not crashed since then, played a few hours last night and some today. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, new driver version 516.40.

Edit: Forgot to mention every time this happened there was an OpenAL32.dll error. Also I tried PsychoBlonde's fix to no avail.

What was I doing?: Travelling through wilderness (just autorun on the horse)/Usual quest play/Sometimes while standing still inside a quest reading this thread to check for an answer.

The OpenAL32.dll solution didn't work. Deactivating the game sounds seems to do the trick (completed the whole IOD saga with no further issues).

I don't have crashes, but I've had compleze freezing for several seconds a few times. Thankfully, the game didn't crash, though.

Couple more long sessions with zero crashes or stuttering with sound disabled. Compared to the constant issues this feels like.a clear identification of root cause. For those experiencing the problem give no sound a go!

From Jerry's post sounds like they are already on the trail but don't have a definite culprit. FYI this has been an issue for me for a long time prior to dread.

I mentioned in one of my other threads about weird sounding audio, in wilderness areas and in dungeons, sounds like in an empty warehouse when the mobs get up close and normal when at a distance. Also Im freezing going into alot of different instances, like just now I got in the game and tried entering Orchard wilderness and .... loading please wait but nothing ever happens, I once left if for over a half hour and it never loaded.

Ok so I can make this happen like clockwork. If I go into Captive of the Hidden God alone when I get to the second room after the jail cell where the dinosaur trainer and the raptors are it will crash shortly after the fight starts.

Sometimes if I run it with someone else I can make it through the quest

Just happened 19:58 EST on thelanis.

This happens to me as well, since update 54 dropped.

Client just straight up crashes to desktop.

It doesn't happen every day, but happens most. If it happens it's one or two times, never more in a night. It can happen for no apparent reason. I don't have to be in a quest or even doing anything. I've had it happen when I was idling somewhere (no, not timing out).

Since feywild came out I have had this problem. I DC at any time. It locks up and crashes. I run Proton VPN now and no more crashes. I used the free version of proton until a month ago when they reduced the number of free servers. Now I need a subscription to play DDO :/

Default Temp fix for me at least

I turned off game sounds and ran all the island and quests for about 6 hours total. Not one crash. But not having sound is no fun. PLEASE get this fixed soon. Dinos are no fun if you don't hear them roar and stomp. And yes, I have seen lock ups and felt to me like was a sound issue of some sorts. I just wrote it off as it did not happen often at all.

Default Also experiencing very high frequency of crashes in Isle of Dread

My game almost never crashes anywhere other than Isle of Dread. It has been absolutely miserable trying to run the Isle of Dread content. My client has crashed to desktop about 50 times in the last 2 days. (would be more, but I gave up trying to run Isle of Dread stuff). It happens in the explorer area and in the quests. The client just closes and dumps me to windows with barely any warning (slight screen freeze before dumping me). I was able to complete a couple of the quests by restarting multiple times, but this gets really old. I hope you figure it out, because I bought the Ultimate Fan Bundle, and was really looking forward to running the new content. I've gone back to running old content with no crashes at all.

Toggling off the game sound fixed the problem for me. I've been running Isle of Dread for several hours with no crashes. With the sound on, I can't go 2 minutes w/o crashing. I think it is related to dinosaurs, because I get the exact same type of crash when I enter the hallway in Red Rain when the dinosaurs jump out.

Update , ive had ZERO isle of dread crashes since switching back to the 32 bit client. I was using the 64 bit client for at least a year with no issues. i guess the lastest update no like the better client....

    Default For the devs:

Also, if it helps troubleshoot the cause of this issue: the related crashes I have in "Red Rain" around the dinosaurs started roughly around the time the pre-purchase for Isle of Dread became available. Before that, I had no crash issues in Red Rain. This can't be a coincidence.

I did a couple of test runs in Red Rain with my game sound toggled off, and I had no crashes....same fix as Isle of Dread

Default 32 bit also fixed the issue

Swapped to 32 bit and I could run with sound on.
