    Default Tank Gotta Go Fast

ok guys. remember me? im the guy that made the wiztank. i made the wiztank because it could fulfill 2 roles. i could DC cast, and i could tank. you dont neeeeed a tank in much content, and its really nice to have a DC caster instead of a tank for 90% of most quests. it was a really really good build, but with how destinies have changed, it now costs too much for me to consider running wiztank for the time being.

    I have upgraded.

This is it. this is the build that is running around khyber faster than a speeding bullet, able tank tall buildings and so on.

the goal was to make something that can help even the most under powered players be able to run higher reaper quests, and to be the anchor of any raid.

does this build have the best defense? no. does this build have enough defense? yes.

can this build help others? with 16 AOE lay on hands and even some healing spells. and taking the aggro of EVERYTHING.

can this build hold aggro on stuff that cannot be intimidated? yeah as long as the dps players are good about slotting -threat in their builds

is this build the first to every pack of monsters, even with monks or wolves in the party? absolutely. that is the main goal, fastest tank, cause tank gotta go fast.

    but how?

    lets find out together.

first. do you need 500 AC. no. is 500 AC nice to have? yes. is 275 AC useless? also yes.

second do you need 500 PRR? no. can i get it? yes. is it nice? eh whatever, 400 seems fine.

third, do you need 300 MRR? no. can i get it? yes. is it nice? eh whatever, 250 seems fine.

fourth. do you need 7000 HP? no. can i get it? yes. is it nice? yes.

fifth. do you need 67 Spell resistance. no. can i get it? i can get 74. is it nice? on older content like ravenloft? yes, in feywild, stops 1 spell out of 30.

sixth. do you need no fail in all saves? yes. can i get it? yes. is it nice to have? definitely

seventh. just how many toughness feats? 2.

how do I go fast? sprint boost. EA wings. and spring attack.

Wait. you take spring attack? yes. would you take that over more defense? yes. spring attack is the most amazing tank feat in the game. it will allow you to UN-surround yourself when a massive mob is upon you. this cannot be understated. Should every single tank in the game have spring attack? yes. if you think not, i can definitely promise, that you are fully WRONG. this will allow you to go double dash and be way out in front of the rest of your party at a moments notice, and will let you easily run away when the going gets tough. the best defense is not getting hit at all. This will allow that to happen much much more often.

    lets see how this works.

    order of past life priority.
all epic past lives done. this is worth much AC and PRR, HP and elemental mitigation. added benefit of being able to spend 65 destiny points at this current time.
then get lives that give PRR, then lives that get MRR, then lives that get CON and lives that get HP, then the rest of the lives.

at level 1. select dwarf, and go pally. why dwarf? dragonmark. and more dodge.

stats, max con, 12 int, 14 cha, rest dex.

skills, go 1 point tumble, full points intimidate, full points UMD, full points Balance full points Search, rest points Jump. leftover points heal

as for feats, here is the order I went. if you don't have completionist, pick up shield deflection.

1: dodge and Follower of the Sovereign Host
    3: mobility
    6: spring attack
    9: completionist
    12: Combat Expertise
    15: shield mastery
    18: improved shield mastery
    21: greater shield mastery
    22: perfect shield mastery
    24: bulwark of defense
    25: toughness
27: Dragonmark (oh yes radiant forcefield)
    28: Toughness
    30: Epic Reflexes
    Legendary: Scion of Celestia

Enhancements. yeah this is a complete character, all past lives and reaper points by the way.

multiselector stuff is PRR for t1 of sacred defender, and +con for t3 sacred defender, pick up whatever stat is most important that ends up odd in falconry core 2

    now for the epic destinies.

thats right, I get no fail on 1 for fort and will in these trees, and EA wings with a couple extra heals. top quality stuff. also, no need for spell components, huge quality of life!

    past life stances
    arcane: mrr
    Primal: fast healing
Divine: Block Energy or Ancient Blessings
    Martial: fortification or Skill boost

    Iconic:Shadar-Kai

lets take a peak at the gear for this thing.

    what i normally wear.

    goggles: LGS 3x Ice resist
Hat: Citadel's Gaze Blue: natural armor +12 green: essence of the cracked core
Neck: Standard Issue Sigil green: good luck+3
Trinket: Legendary Pouch of jerky yellow: dex+12 green: GH
    Cloak: LGS 3x electric resist
    Belt: LGS 3x Uncon Range
Ring1: Legendary Ethereal Ring green: vitality+20 yellow: festive cha +2
    Gloves: LGS 3x acid resist
Boots: Deepsnow boots green: crystallized unicorn tear
Ring2: Stolen Signet of IrWynarn blue: sapphire of resistance +10 (just for will save) green: essence of ultimatum yellow: festive con+2
    bracers: LGS 3x fire resist
Armor: Watch Captains Platemail green: globe of true imperial blood
Weapon: The Labrinthine Edge red: devotion +139 Purple accuracy +20
Shield: Legendary Shield of the Scorpion blue: armored Agility +2 purple: diamond of insightful Cha +5

whaH!! a 5 peice LGS? daaaaaang thats an ender set! yup it sure is, not to worry tho, i swap lots of peices out depending on lots of situations.

i very very often swap out the bracers for Hallowed Castigators.
i also very very often swap out the gloves for Gloryborn Gloves
and often swap out the Goggles for wis/wis collective sights
and often swap the cloak for a legendary Phiarlan mirror cloak

I also have every spell absorb item in the game, slot +12 con on the trinkets so you don't loose too many hp for swapping out your main con item.

for special occasions, i carry a salt LGS offhand and cast sleet storm scrolls if pulling a very difficult pack.

i also carry a affirmation offhand for extra healing amp between fights and to proc an extra 1000 hp every now and again.

    Filigree Setup
    Weapon
    Snakebite/grandfather +2 con
    Grandfather +1 con
    Soulweaver/Splendid +2 con
    Nyst/Electrocution: mrr
    Nyst mrr
    Nyst +1 con
    Unbreakable Heal amp
    Unbreakable PRR
    unbreakable MRR
    unbreakable +1 Con

    Artifact
    Snakebite/grandfather +2 con
    Unbreakable +1 con
    Nyst/Electrocution: mrr

    well, whats the numbers.

    outside of reaper

    HP:5174
    AC:400
Fortification:185 (some rog type red names will pass this, make sure to put on fortification past life stance for those)
Saves 134/102/99 (this is enough for everything, i have not failed a save this entire life.)
    PRR:386
    MRR:251

with just 1 swap to hallowed castigators (yeah perfectly rolled hallowed castigators with mythic 3 prr/mrr and reaper bracers boost +1 saves +3 mrr)
loose ender, gain defense, loose like 90 HP, gain positive spell stuff. totally worth it.
    hp: 5087
    AC400
    Fortification 185
    Saves 135/103/100
    PRR 403
    MRR 271

dont foget that you also end up with deific warding, and proc your shield smash, and get your Celestial Mandate to 6 stacks, cast angelskin and boom, 475 prr and 343 mrr

    and then reaper mode.

pick dex in the adversary tree, pick cha in the thaumaturge tree and PRR and reflex save in the barricade tree.

add 2000 HP and a heap of defense.

dont forget the bloodrage proc that goes off alll the time on the labyrinthine edge

you have 16 of the hardest hitting lay on hands that hit in an AOE around the target. oh, and they recharge as well. with just his, you are a better healer than most of those nuker FVS and druid builds. you also have mass cure mod from EA, and a cure spell or two from pally spells.

also, large shield, so dodge is up at 18% great number for heavy armor! also have enhanced ghostly for more damage mitigation.

dont forget 4 clicks of Radiant force field per shrine for situational -25% damage, Defense boost, reaper resistance and we are already up there with the toughest possible tanks. but dont forget, tank gotta go fast!

hit those wings, hit that spring attack, sprint boost while you are doing it. TANK GOTTA GO FAST!

The train-of-thought format is very hard to parse. Either of the current character planners would be a big help. Just sayin'.

For players who have less than 97(!) AP to spend, what cuts would you recommend?

Last time I tested raid bosses broke through 260 fortification, and one wanted ~300. Can you step into KT on elite and just let her beat on your character a bit to see what happens?

Also inspired by your wiztank, I made a sorc one to replace my rogue one now that dodge is getting nerfed to 0. Maybe you find this more to your liking.

did one better, went in on R1, lasted 12 min 20 seconds by myself.

the dragon did crit me every now and again. for 410 damage. aint nothin. by far the most damage incoming is from elecrical spell type damage as the electric stacks up, at 20 stacks i only have a little over 100 MRR so the lighting strikes hit for ~1200 damage with 113 elecric resist and 69% electric absorb
