PB Maps the Isle of Dread

So, I'm getting close to finished with my map of the Isle of Dread and, as always, I could use some help tracking down the last few locations. Here's what I've got so far:



I'm missing:
Vecna journals 2 and 20

If you locate any of these and post a screenshot, it'd be much appreciated!

I might suggest brightening up the red text a little too before you upload the "final" version anywhere, its pretty illegible in places

The Green Dragon rare is just to the right of the Ghost Flame scroll #16 location, amongst the blackened dinosaur bones there.

Yep, I found him, just didn't want to upload a whole new map version. The only thing I'm missing now is Vecna's scroll 20 but, of course, the preview is down now.

Yeah, I always do a final cleanup pass.

In High Road you have to exit that rare to get at the scroll. Maybe we haven't seen it because it is by a quest exit?

Next preview I'm going to test DCs for casters so I'll happily check.

It's possible, but they haven't done that in a while. None of the quests I was actually able to preview had exits like that.

In addition to the need to find the Rare in High Road (to get an explorer scroll), it has also been done in Epic Gianthold where you have to exit the hunting party door of "Feast or Famine" to get an explorer (although it is possible to Abundant Step/Leap to get to it). So it has been used twice and could be in one of these variants (or a new one) again.

Well, this is gonna take some work.

Okie, I found at least 1 of all the new scroll locations, but the wilderness is a bit of a mess atm. There's leftover stuff hanging around, some of the scrolls are appearing in multiple locations at once instead of just one at a time, so I'm going to wait a bit to revisit this and confirm the new scroll locations on the next preview (if there is one) or on live.

Whining aside, I like the new layout better, it's a bit more logical and gives you a sort of path to follow and an idea of the area where each scroll will spawn.

I wonder, with 40 scrolls lain out in fairly linear paths, and a couple explorers along the way for each too, if doing a "scroll run" will yield any kind of useful XP/min as a once per life "quasi-quest"

I must confess to be disappointed that they went back to the multiple location (and I assume spinning) scrolls that are a pain to pick up. I had hoped after feywild and saltmarsh that they had returned to the explorer points for wilderness areas. I guess much like barovia and cogs, this is something I can skip in this expansion.

Edit, just noticed that there are explore points on your map. Does that mean that IoD has both systems? If so I guess my complaint was unwarranted.

There are multiple pirates at the point, but they're just renting. It is owned by one dude.

Yeah, that's the old location that hasn't been removed. So I took it off the map.

Yeah, it's got both, and you only need the explore points to clear the map, not the journals. I think they mostly included the journals because it gives them a way to tell some extra story. If you notice, the areas that have wilderness scrolls are ones that have named major characters that are involved in the story in a big way. Since we really don't want them hanging around in quests giving 20 minute monologues, this is the only real way they have to let the bad guys have their say.

I do find it cute that whenever they have a Standing Stones location it's the company logo.

I think all the journals are randomized to some extent. I did not find vecna 11, 14, or 15 in the southern area.

I also did not find Vecna 1 or 3 in the spots you have them. I found 3 just north of 2 at the base of the swamp. Vecna 2 I found on the East bank of the river, pretty much due north of the middle of the river overlook (smidge north of the falls).
