    Default Maces of mystery...

Many people on Cannith have asked me to link my weapons and asked "where can I get those". My reply to those brave adventurers is, "when you are ready, all will be revealed". I now search for my brothers and sisters on other servers who have uncovered these most secret of weapons and challenge those that have yet to obtain them to embrace the quest for the...

    That's a scary thought.

Your game engine wouldn't happen to be code-named SkyNet would it?

Those are wondrous craftsmanship heavy maces, which still do occasionally drop in random gen. I had thought after the update 29 random gen overhaul that wondrous craftsmanship weapons had stopped dropping, but they still do (rarely) - I got this one last week.

The icon preview for the wondrous craftsmanship mace on the upper left (if you look closely) corresponds to your "maces of mystery".

I have been trying to collect different assorted wondrous craftsmanship weapons and armors to catalog whether any have unique appearances, but all wondrous craftsmanship items are btcoe, so I have been putting it off. I did try equipping a few wondrous craftsmanship robes and armors and - disappointingly - they just had standard random armor appearances. Jollysoul on Ghallanda had told me one time that either the wondrous dwarven waraxe or wondrous greataxe also has a unique appearance but I have been hesitant to equip the ones that I have to check (due to binding status).

I have to credit Andural on Ghallanda for informing me about the wondrous craftsmanship heavy maces a while back - he would be disappointed to know about this thread, since he is the only one on Ghallanda that I have seen that has glamered this mace look. He called them his easter egg maces.

Afterwards I started investigating other wondrous craftsmanship items to see what is out there.

yeah it is fascinating that they put out a unique appearance for the wondrous heavy mace.

Mine are not wondrous craftsmanship and the icon in the upper corner does not always match the item. Thunder forge mace has the same icon but looks very different. Congrats to Andural for having found his path to the maces. However mine were listed as eldritch maces they even have their own auras which copied on glamoring I did not add any auras. Pugs have called them cotton candy and Pom poms especially as a PDK.

interesting... i had thought the cotton candy look was unique to wondrous craftsmanship heavy maces. do you still have the original eldritch maces? maybe around the time of menace of the underdark the eldritch maces were given that appearance, but I cannot imagine why. I doubt that the art dept at turbine would have invested making a unique appearance for random gen loot. but it would have been really cool if all wondrous craftsmanship weapons had unique appearances, I do not think most of the others do, but I will try to do some testing.

.. yeah, I did notice that the thunder-forged heavy mace had that icon as well, but the appearance was different.

They have it for other weapons and armor I believe. I see them from the reward chain to stormhorns. There is armor and weapons that drop from there that have looks that no other items in the game have. I'm pretty sure I have seen those weapons lots of times from the storm horns reward list (and yes I equipped them to see what they looked like). Not sure if the OP's loot is from stormhorns though.

Edit: all the unique looking weapons/armor I have seen from stormhorns end up being the craftsmanship loot.

You should TR into a Horc just for the oversized weapon screenshot. Hilarity will ensue.

Perhaps you could put all of those Bind To Character on Equip items onto one character, copy that character to Lamania when it is open, then equip them there, thus having an opportunity to see their appearance without actually binding them to a character on your home server? Please forgive me if this is not possible. I have never successfully installed Lamania for myself.

If the beautiful cotton candy clubs (heavy maces) are, in fact, wondrous craftsmanship then would it be possible to ask the artists and whatnot for a list of unique looking arms and armor? Or better yet is there a list//visual of all the non-named weapons and armors?

    p.s. - add Malicia's armor as a cosmetic

I had a feeling those maces were wondrous items. I have a robe that makes for a nice cosmetic (saves TP since it looks like the dark noble robe) and a staff that I enjoy the unique look of. You can't really tell from the picture, but the staff has a slight curve in it.
