That was some awesome work on making the Tabaxi look so good.
Tabaxi is a fantastic race. I appreciate these insight articles.

Well you see, when two Tabaxi love each other very much...
...enough that she doesnt mind the barbs...
Sure, but how did they get there? Are they native to Eberron? Where, Xendrik? Droaam? Khyber? Lamannia? We've never seen or heard of them before, and they suddenly appear after Foxpaw starts messing around with destroying Codex pages? Are they abominations? Outsiders? Are mindflayers out in the jungles "Uplifting" them?
Thanks!
Keep em coming, really nice getting some small insight like this.
(I read Keith Baker on twitter doing some really nice quests/lore stuff "floating fortress of Argonth")- maybe time get him aboard on some new quests/lore? Had been just awesome imho)
Triple all
From the creator of Eberron. Select which lore explanation you prefer.
The simple answer is “Tabaxi live in Xen’drik.” More exotic possibilities: they were magebred as soldiers by House Vadalis; they’re shifters altered by being born in a Lamannian manifest zone; they’re house cats transformed by the Mourning.

Yeah, that's fine for your own Eberron campaign you're running at home, all he's saying is "use rule zero". Even accepting that, DDO needs to explain where they come in SSG's homebrew campaign, and from a narrative standpoint, why we have never encountered them before. Internal consistency is more important in fantasy, not less.
Cats feel no need to share information with the many lesser species over which they exercise dominion.

You have that with *every* DLC, basically. And with everything that's invented afterwards.
That problem is bigger with MMOs, though, than with offline singleplayer games, for which usually everything is developed without having DLCs in mind (recent games tell me otherwise, though).
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"
There is always a certain amount of acceptance of it being a video game when it comes to introducing new character races and classes, but the Tabaxi tend to be natural wanderers and explorers with settlements linked to more jungle-like environments. For us, their arrival coincides with the appearance of the Isle of Dread off the coast of Stormreach, but that isn't to say others may have come to the area from other locations. The Isle of Dread itself is known to cross planes, so the answer is they could be from just about anywhere that seems appropriate.

Finally figured out what was bugging me about the models. Cats have retractable claws yet the tabaxi feet are claws out. It doesn’t look natural.
Disappointing, but utterly unsurprising, that given an opportunity to do some world building and tell an interesting story, SSG takes a pass.
For all their numerous and well documented faults, at least Turbine had stories to tell.
Maybe add around four Tabaxi NPCs throughout Stormreach, telling how they come from X to explore Xen'drik, now that the Last War is over? X can stand for:
- Q'barra: Aside from the swamps, there are steamy Jungles which is similar to Tabaxi in Toril, who two big homes are Maztica and Chult
- Droam: Land of Monsters, of course giant cat people may have been thrown there when the humans took Khorvaire over
- Lhazar: There are many "other" races there, and the thought of seafaring/pirating Tabaxi is intriguing for me at least
Of course, having all of the Tabaxi coming from different places would give the idea, that they're not much of a bonded folk.

Nothing in this game is essential, unless you are a power-gaming & unimaginative lemming who follows everyone else, without having any form of creativity or original thought rolling around your brainpain...
