The results are +7CL/MCL for Firestorm resulting in 27CL's and 310.5 base damage. Sunburst has, at best, has 20+7+1 for 28 and 210 base damage, 47.8% less. Seriously 1D6+4 is really hurting Sunburst as a damage spell, compared to all the other higher end spells. Holy Smite, which doesn't have CL/MCL from DD, and on MoA, is 10+5 for 15 and 172 base damage. With MoA is becomes 10+10+5 for 287.5 base damage, double on most outsiders. Same with Order's Wrath and Chaos Hammer, interesting note is that Holy Smite / Chaos Hammer now properly treat reapers as Lawful Evil Outsiders and do double damage at 575 base.
Hmm, if you went chaos domain you wouldn't need T5 or capstone then, and could do FI 31(free enlarge) falconry 23 (helpless),DD Holy Smite SLA 23.

Then you could do smite SLA > smite > chaos > chaos SLA > smite > Chaos with 40% CDR (draconic, SD, EPL, sentience). Wouldn't do as much to mobs, but you would take reapers apart.

Chaos domain is just Chaos Hammer, the third useful spell out of the alignment spells, it has no relationship to Divine Disciple T5 or capstone, both of which add CL/MCL's to the primary spells of Firestorm / Celestial Bombardment. The alignment spells are situational and employed correctly can be extremely powerful, they just aren't our primary damage spells going into epics. Also Word of Balance is one of the strongest single target spells in the game, no SR, no save, just take a huge pile of unresistible, unblockable bane damage. 15.5 damage per CL (MCL20) per hit, two hits, one for good/evil, another for lawful/chaos. At 30 it would CL25 for 387.5 per hit, 775 if the target is non-neutral, all at the base cost of 10SP.

    Default i like Death Domain

I really like Death Domain; of course you miss out on the AoE SLAs that other Domains offer (notably Fire and Air) but gain +4 Necro DCs, Destruction SLA, big-hitting single target Necrotic Ray SLA and Immunity to Energy Drain. It synergizes well with DD (dark side). Dragonborn for +3 Evo DCs/+3 spell pen, splash into Feydark for another +3 spell pen/+2 WIS and heroic feats (Quicken, Maximize, Empower, SF Evo, GSF Evo, Heighten, Enlarge) works really well for levelling to 30. On low reapers, I find Necrotic Ray and Word of Balance (capstone) are both excellent.

If you have a lesser HoW lying around, you can also start with CHA16 and reliably use Turn Undead for lower heroic levels then spec back out around 12 dumping CHA.

Having said [wrote] all that, I am now sorely tempted to play Air or Fire

Yeah Necro Cleric is pretty solid, kinda slow leveling due to less super spells but absolute monster in higher end game play. They just walk around yelling "Die!!" and things fall down.

The central issue is that Divine Disciple already gives you what you would get out of Sun Domain, it makes it almost a wasted choice. Searing Light / Sun Beam / Sun Burst are part of the DD cores and Searing Light is even given as an SLA early on. Cleric and FVS are both multi-element casters, they use Fire, Light/Alignment and Force spells so we want a Domain that compliments those. Now in your case, running a healer spec in Radiant with none of the stuff out of DD, and in that scenario Sun Domain actually gives you a good set of offensive power. Imagine trying to run in RS while also having the Healing Domain, see how much of that overlaps and is almost made redundant? Same relationship between DD and Sun Domain. Fire / Air are the preferred offensive domains because they compliment Divine Disciple, though Airs Chain Lightning gets less useful in epics if running in DI Fire vs something like PA. +4 Evo DC can't be argued against.

    Well,

Yes, as mentioned above, the Searing Light SLA from Sun domain (at CL 5) is on the Same timer as the Searing Light SLA from Divine Disciple, however both SLAs are on a different timer from the searing light spell, and the one from the Sun domain doesn't cost any enhancements.

the Sunbeam SLA received from Sun Domain at CL 9 is on a separate cooldown timer from the Sunbeam spell,

and as far as the CL 14 Sunburst SLA from Sun domain, it is on a separate timer from the Morninglord Sunburst SLA, "Aumator's Brilliance." I do not have a high enough level currently to test if either one of these is on the same timer as the Sunburst spell, but if they are not, that's 3 sunbursts that someone could rotate through, in a pinch.

So, while I'm not saying these are reason enough to take the Sun Domain, I would say that this does make them more useful. I made a level 15 morninglord, just to check the timers, but I might actually play a bit and see how it does.

Kind of a necroed thread, but someone with a similar question (like me) might still come here. One counter-intuitive thing about Fire Domain is that it doesn't use light and fire spell crit chance or multiplier interchangeably, so you'll need to wear gear and spec for both. Not hard, fortunately, but it does mean you get less help from the DD tree, as the crit enhancement options for light disciple are light (2% each) or universal (1% each). You'll want to take both the epic fire and light spellpower feats to max spell crits.

Something else to consider is elemental resistance. Fire is great, until you walk into one of the many quests full of stuff that's immune to or healed by fire, with no way on a non-tiefling cleric to bypass it. Fine if you party with tieflings or fire sorcs or druids who'll strip it for you, not so much otherwise--at that point, you'll be falling back on light/alignment anyway, maybe force. Light and alignment spells may not hit as hard in epics, but they're more versatile, and come with nice debuff and CC options (holy smite blinds, order's wrath has a unique 6-second daze that isn't broken by damage). Personally, I found things like regular sunbolt and sunbeam from DD way too expensive to meta up to usefulness in epic on a cleric, so the SLA versions in EA (bolt) and light domain (beam) are massively better, and like someone said above, getting the Searing Light SLA from the light domain frees up AP in the already-expensive DD tree.

So, I don't think light domain is quite as bad as a noob trap, but there's no doubt it won't hit as hard as fire overall, given light's heavy focus on single-target spells and fire's superior AOE SLA (with support from the light/alignment SLAs and spells any cleric can get). Fire also fits better with EDs like Primal and DI, opening up more options and much harder-hitting epic strikes.

Anyway, both options can work and are fun to play. Just be aware of the pros and cons and adjust gear and strategy as needed.

    Default Light damage build

I just finished a cleric life. Focus your class enhancements on light damage and the shield line. Get your basic tank feats without sacrificing all the required light damage feats. Double rainbow, tank destiny, and primal aviator especially for rejuvenation cocoon.
Stats need to dump all you got in wisdom and con everything else in dexterity.

Rely on the sla’s you get from the cleric tree.

I used random loot boost light and critical prr, mrr, and ac.

Next step is to unload and find the rotation that works best for you. Blinding a enemy really impacts the ability of someone to hit you so do your thing.

    Just my two cents.

I'm curious which Domain you chose?
