    Default Item Set Bonus Jewels

Item set bonuses are a great source of power in DDO which these days are almost mandatory to have if you want to be competent in high level content. I see an issue with one specific type of set bonuses, specifically the 3 item set bonuses.

All of these require an armor and two other types of equipment to get the bonuses. The problem here is that a player is forced into using these 3 items with no way of customizing the way they obtain the set bonuses. I have a proposal that may be able to circumvent this issue, exclusive set bonus jewels.

An exclusive set bonus jewel would allow for some gear build customization in that a player could assign an item outside the typical 3 items to provide part of the item set requirement. Making the jewel exclusive would mean that only one of these jewels, no matter what set bonus, could be placed into a jewel slot. It would also override any other set bonuses on the slotted item.

It's a small change that would have a big impact on what gear is accessible to a player's build. For example, if I want the Dreadkeeper set, but there's also some gloves that would fit my build better than the Dreadkeeper gloves, I could insert a Dreadkeeper jewel into a necklace that would allow the necklace to be part of the Dreadkeeper set requirement allowing me to use a different pair of gloves in my build.

It was already introduced in u48 with the augment revamp. You need 3 specific items to convert to essence set augments and you slot them into gear for specific bonuses.

The only augments I can find from Update 48 that closely resemble what you're talking about are Set Augments which is not what I'm talking about. The augments I'm proposing could allow a player to replace one piece of gear from an existing set, such as Dreadkeeper or Wallwatch. The Set Augments shown in that wiki page are separate from named item sets.

Perhaps I don't fully understand how Set Augments work. With three items that have three augment slots, can I slot three different Set Augments into each of them (totaling 9 augment jewels) giving me 3 of those Set Augment bonuses?

Also, if that's the case then that means to create an equivalent set, you would need to farm 450 threads of fate from endgame raids plus 9 empty soul vessels which you either find from feywild chests, a quest pack I do not have even as a VIP, or trade 250 threads of fate each which would be another 2250 threads of fate. So I need to farm 2700 threads of fate from raids that aren't even ran very often on my server and that only give you a maximum of 35 per elite run on top of hoping I get the items required? Sounds too tedious.

You need 3x empty souls, 3x the specific raid item and 150 threads total to make a set of 3. Make in the cauldron in the hut, then slot into three colorless or better slots. There are plenty of artifact bonuses to choose from which is essentially 1/3 of the effects of a normal 5pc set bonus. So yeah it’s basically a portion of what you ask. There is no way that you will ever see what you want because of the imbalance it would create. And since all set bonuses are artifact you must pick and choose what’s best for you. Oh and also the augment set bonus will over write item or other augment set bonuses. But that also mean you cannot put 3 different set bonus on one item, and you disqualify the item you are slotting into. It’s made to use some one off items to slot a set bonus into.

Just curious, have you tried putting multiple Augment Sets into items? For example, you have three items with 3 augment slots each. You place one augment from 3 different Augment Sets into each item. Will you be able to get 3 Augment Set bonuses this way? The wiki says that the Augment Sets specifically suppress Item Set Bonuses, not Augment Set Bonuses:

One of the most horrible crafting options, requiring multiple pieces of specific raid gear, not to mention it came out right before stat squish.
Mains - Messam, Indalecio, Mozenrath, Quackerjack.
