Q: Why Barbarian over Paladin?

A: Barbarian tanks get a lot more HPS than Paladin tanks do (roughly by 1500). Although Paladins get a little more PRR/MRR, the 14% Barb DR makes the PRR/MRR stats comparable, pulling Barb ahead due to the greater pool of HPS. Also, especially in newer content, AC does not matter. Whether you have 300 or 700, you are still going to get hit, and get hit often. Therefore, Paladin AC isn’t a game changer.

This is 100% correct.

SSG - fix tanks. And not with nerfs.
