Default Looking for Pure Monk Halfling Shuriken Build

Looking for a pure monk halfling shuriken build. I was following one that was hosted on a third party site, but it's gone now and I can't remember the enhancements.

The only build I've managed to find through searching the forums is this one from 2014:
    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...huricannon-2-0
I'd rather not model my build after one that's nearly eight years old.

    Thanks!

Honestly not much would change for a pure shurimonk build today: DEX primary, WIS secondary for Ten Thousand Stars same as always. You want all the usual ranged feats. Ideally you have Horizon Walker for No Step Missed (DEX Battle Trance) and Vistani Knife Fighter for Haste Boost, free Quick Draw, and +5% Doubleshot. So something like 41 Ninja / 15 Horizon Walker (also grab Haste SLA and Hunter's Focus) / 11 VKF / 16 halfling (max Guile) would be ideal, I guess? And only requires 3 extra APs, how hard is that?

Heroic leveling a thrower is still painfully slow but so it goes.

FYI Carpone has a thread comparing 17(?!) different ranged builds including pure monk.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of dipping into Vistani Knife Fighter. I already took Quick Draw as a regular feat, but could swap it out later.

Is there a particular order to take the enhancements, to help keep the heroic leveling pain as manageable as possible? My monk is currently level 4, pulled from the hardcore server. Thankfully I have two extra action points from the expansion bundle tomes. (Haven't decided optimal choices for the skill tomes from the bundles.)

I was thinking something like this:
    Code:
    Half-pint Shurimonk
    Monk 20
    Lawful Neutral Halfling

    Stats
                   28pt 32pt Level Up
                   ---- ---- --------
    Strength 6 6 4: DEX
    Dexterity 20 20 8: DEX
    Constitution 14 14 12: DEX
    Intelligence 8 8 16: DEX
    Wisdom 14 16 20: DEX
    Charisma 8 8 24: DEX

AP tomes seem to confuse the Leveling Guide so I'm not sure it adds right but the gist of it is:

    • Grab Advanced Ninja Training ASAP for DEX to damage and extra shuriken procs.
    • Grab Quick Reflexes at level 6 for free Quick Draw and +5% doubleshot. Should have both Haste Boost and Ranged Power Boost by now.
    • Grab your crit bonuses as soon as they're available: i.e., Deadly Striker (+2 crit range) at level 12 and Ninja capstone (+1 crit multiplier) at level 20.

I took the Dragonmark because I had a feat slot to spare and I need to spend a bunch of APs to get to tier-4 Guile so why not? [EDIT: if you have less than 83 APs, you can drop them from the halfling tree.] This build has 7d6 sneak attacks from Enhancements and another 6d6 from Ethereal Plane; but since we don't have Sniper Shot, you'll want (Improved) Deception gear whenever you can slot it.

Beautiful! Thanks so much! This is my first monk and halfling, and I just bought horizon walker, so it was a lot of unfamiliar trees for me.
Looks like I took the same feats and monk path so far (didn't take Quick Draw), so all I need to do is a quick AP reset to go for the VKF splash.

    Thanks again!

Also, would I be wanting to put skill points into Bluff? I've been putting them into Concentration, Heal, Spot, and Jump.

I thought I saw something with sneak attacks that used Bluff skill somewhere when I was reading trees, but my brain may have just been overloaded.

Go here for three different builds.

I play a variant of the 20 Monk version.

The drawback of being pure monk is you don't have a way to apply sneak attack damage on a mob, like a 14 Monk/6 Ranger split does with Sniper Shot. So you need to lean on Improved Deception from an item, or Bluff which is clunky to use.

Thanks, but the links to the builds from that thread are dead.

Good point. That might be the build I'll TR this into. I'll definitely look for Improved Deception items this time around. Thanks!

    Sorry. See the following:

Check the build links in the spreadsheet for the build you're interested in.
