    Default New Spellcasting Feat: Multiplicity

Multiplicity only affects spells which can be stacked, and when a spell that stacks is affected by multiplicity, it creates maximum stacks at the cost of x times the spells cost (with other active metamagics added in as well.)

Niac's Biting Cold: 20SP. does 1d6+1 per caster level every 2 sec for 16 sec. Cast at level 20, it would do 1d6+20. Empowered, Intensified, Maximized would do 300% increased damage but the spell cost would be 75. If you also used the Multiplicity metamagic, it would cost 225 but start with a stack size of 3. BUT SO EXPENSIVE.

I guess the real use would be to just cast the base DoT with Multiplicity and then use the Empowered, Intensified, Maximized DoT afterward to refresh the stacks.

Eh...at a certain point, though, the whole point of having DOT spells is that they *do* build over time. Both in terms of damage application and stack application.

I mean why not have a feat that applies all DOT damage upfront as a single burst too?

It just sets the stack size to max. faster damage while still being a dot.

The idea is that DoTs tend to be useless except on bosses. You drop a dot, and the monster is dead so fast afterward--at least in the groups I've been in.

Yeah that's their designed role space...they aren't supposed to be, nor do they need to serve as, an alternative to nukes for trash clearing. Every caster has enough room to have all three damage tools (aoe, st, dot) in their toolbox

I cannot see anyone wasting a feat on this. To be honest those stacking spells are so worthless that if they started with 3 stacks for the price of 1 without a feat might actually make them actually worth even scribing. Otherwise they are junk.
