Three Iconic Wizards: A Review

I took the time to create three first life iconic classes which normally aren't arcane, and LR+1'ed them into pure wizards, all the way to max level.

I. Shadar-Kai WIZ 20

Primary Enhancement: Eldritch Knight
Secondary Enhancement: Pale Master
+some investment into Shadar-Kai racial for the extra chain attack and the chain extras.

Verdict: Really fun, but not quite as powerful as a pure rogue Shadar-Kai backstab specialist. Max spellsword and spellsword die size adds a significant amount of elemental damage provided you have the proper items to raise elemental power(s.) Yes, the elemental damage applies to the chain attacks as well, as does the level drain effect from Pale Master. For awhile I ran freezing as well, and it was interesting to sometimes see 2-3 people get frozen when I whipped the chain around. Used SWF, ISWF, GSWF, and PSWF so vorpal was on 19-20. Medium Armor, orb in off hand with off-hand versatility. A fun build.

Rating: 7/10

Razorclaw Shifter WIZ 20

Primary Enhancement: Eldritch Knight
Secondary Enhancement: Pale Master
+some investment into Razorclaw Shifter to get claw abilities and shifting enhancements, especially overwhelming shifting and relentless onslaught
Used the cast while raging ability from Draconic Incarnation to allow him to cast while raging.

Verdict: VERY fun build to play with the right handwraps. Max spellsword and spellsword die (as above.) Relentless Onslaught is a great "oh sh*t" attack if things get out of control. Magic Fang from the racial enhancement tree doesn't apply in undead form, but if you exit the form and then cast the spell, it will stick and you can re-enter your undead shroud. All the TWF feats (as above.) Destructive Shifting is amazing in this form.

Rating: 9/10

Sun Elf WIZ 20

Primary Enhancement: Pale Master
Secondary Enhancement: Eldritch Knight
+a little investment into Morninglord, but because it is so expensive, just enough to get 2 uses of Rejuvenation of Dawn and Blessing of Amunator, so that you can cast group spell resistance and aid 3x per rest.
Even though EK can wear up to medium armor, I took Light, Medium and Heavy armor proficiencies, so that with a full EK tree, I can wear any armor in the game without ASF.

A very tanky build with a lot of negative damage (from pale master and draconic.) Quite hard to kill. Spell DPS is through the roof. At level 30, took Scion of the Plane of Earth for 20 more PRR. With Knight's Training and Improved Critical: Slashing, this build crits decently with longsword or battle axe, not to mention high ac because of heavy armor and large shields. Would have gone for Tower Shield proficiency, but did not have enough feats (prereq: shield proficiency.)

Rating: 8/10

All three builds are winners and all three play very differently. I recommend you try thinking outside the box sometime and roll your own Iconic Aberration...
