    Default Vistani Monk viable?

While playing around with another build, I noticed that T3 in Vistani allows you to be centered while using daggers.. So this made me think. Has anyone tried out a Vistani monk? Would this be something that could be fun, or is it too point intensive to be viable?

Anyone try ab build one out?

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

The answer to that is yes and no. Yes, because there are many very good daggers and Vistani is a strong tree, no because Monk is really one of the worst choices for it. Ninja Spy is unfortunately a terrible tree for anything but Shuri and other classes bring more innate damage and better supporting (or even main) enhancement trees. However you don’t have to be meta to play the game unless you’re pushing high reaper raids, so you’ll be fine. Probably would go mainly into Vistani and Falconry WIS.
Pinc Punch - Unarmed Monk (Uber Completionist) // Porc the Orc - Paladin // Thunderborn - Warlock // Imustbe Emo - PewPew Rogue // Aquamine Artifact - Crafting Artificer (shelved)

That is what I was thinking. Rogue would be superior, but I was thinking of some alternatives to the standard "Handwrap or QStaff" options. Thought maybe daggers would be an interesting choice. The downside is this may be too EH point intensive to be truly viable. Still, may be interesting to test.

to be honest ... its a lot of fun and i like it alot ... but its not the best dps and doesnt work as well as handwraps in most cases ...at least not on a 30 pure monk.

i want to try dual wielding longswords at some point using destiny.

I know i am late to the party on this thread, but for the past couple weeks i have been playing a 12monk 6 ranger 2 warlock VKF to pretty good success. Its a Shadar-kai so i had to burn a +1 heart, but if you don't wanna do that, i would think doing 9 Monk, 6 ranger and 5 rogue would be fine. I play it as a quasi-tank in high reapers. It has good trash control (Goldcursed dagger procs a ton; esp when you are lowering fort saves with taint the blood, and AOE hits with chains). It procs on reapers regularly, so the famines would be doing their nasty. It has 42 standing dodge (and in reaper quest and multiple ways to buff that, as well as 25% incorporeality and 75% concealment) - so i can just facetank dooms without much fear. The damage is still decent but of course not as high as it would be as a pure DPS. Between Shadowstrike, Keeper of the Crimson Covenant and Taint the Blood, you can lower ppr/mmr by 25, providing a huge damage increase for the group as well.

    The good
Face tank most physicals without fear
Great CC with Goldcursed dagger/chains (you have close to a ~60% chance to land at least 1 crit with greater chains) and this usually CC's at least half the mob pack
Peel ability with Ki shout, the Base Shintao buffs for the group (the mana cost reduction is always welcomed)
Can run r8 or less and be ok with minimal healing. (cocoon, greater vigor, etc) is usually enough.

    The Bad:
Fear reaper dots/Elemental DOT/Heavy Elemental damage will wreck you. You're MMR is bad and some spells will just one shot you if you aren't fast on swapping to spell absorb or don't pay attention to fear reapers.
No self healing so you need to make sure someone can keep you alive
Subject to RNG - It usually takes 3 consecutive hits from a doom to kill on R10. I can buff my dodge to max, meaning, with all my other evasions, they have a 12,500:1 chance of scoring 3 consecutive hits (assuming i don't get healed in between). Sometimes they do this.

    Enhancement Split:

18- Shadar-kai for double chains and buffs

41 VKF - The bread and butter

23 Tempest - for Elaborate Parry, PPR, and Deflect Arrows

8 Shintao - Ki shout and 20 PPR from Iron Skin

7 Soul Eater - Taint the Blood and Taint the Aura

    Destiny Split:
34 Shadowdancer - For Mantle and upgrades, Shadowstrike with meld enhancements, shadowmastery (really good with Ki Shout to force attacks in trash heavy areas)

12 Legendary Dreadnought - PPR, Action Boosts, Push the Line, and some HAmp

18 Grandmaster of Flowers - More concentration, the Cores to round out bypass and Flow of Water for cold resist and saves since you're in ocean stance most of the time.

Gear is pretty much just DPS gear TBH. Family set with vulkoor's chosen. I haven't thought about how to optimize it much yet tbh. Ill wear Skullduggery cap for R8 and lower (it seems to proc i'd say 2-5% of the time) or a greensteel cap with HP/Con skills in higher reaper to push my Concentration to 130s to make sure i can always peel the mobs i need to.

Just a quick rundown but something fun to think about.
    Wow!
