So, there are a lot of fun DDO Winter events, but New Years Eve seems to be a relatively (real) worldwide celebration--probably one of the few holidays it seems most of the world celebrates. Even in China (whose big New Year Celebration is the Chinese New Year), January 1 is a public holiday-although a minor one. Many of us gamers will spend tonight ringing in the new year by running quest series. We don't go out; we might not even watch the ball drop on television.

My husband and I were discussing this, and wondered if possibly we could get fireworks on DDO. This could be done in two ways: (1) General fireworks everywhere starting when the clock strikes 12 in Kiribati (5 AM Dec 31, EST) and running for 25 hours; (2) Having fireworks that still start at the same time and run for 25 hours, but rotate between different areas throughout the day (i.e. Ravenloft then 3 Barrel Cove, etc.)

Every hour, during that time, a game-wide announcement of "Happy New Year" could be posted.

In addition, /toast would also be a great addition to our online celebrations.

I know--it is too late for this year, but just something we were thinking about.
