    Default Defeating Formorians

I am looking for some help on how to defeat the Formorian Giants in the new Feywild quests. They have a curse mechanic that when you get cursed, you can't do ANYTHING. I have tried using a Ranged Character and a Spell Caster and the end result is the same, the giant curses, and you can't do anything for 6 seconds. If he trips you, or knocks you down, your dead, as he then casts his red cone of death at you and just ticks your health away and you can't do anything about it. I Know the Heart of Sulimades trinket, which makes you immune to curse prevents players from taking this curse, but as a Caster, I was not able to slot this trinket into my gear.

If you are playing with a full group, this normally wouldn't be an issue, as there is enough DPS to take the giant down quickly, or there are enough classes out there that can remove curses from others that the giants curse isn't an issue. But what do you do when you are soloing? or as I often do, dragging some lower level characters with you who can't help.

So the question I have for the masses out there, is how are you dealing with the giants? Is there someway to prevent the curse that I am not aware of? It doesn't seem to be any kind of save, the giant curses and you get cursed, no save involved.

I think you just need to get your stats high enough so you don't become helpless. I ran it the first time over the weekend and I became helpless as well. I looked at my stats and dexterity was 0. If my memory is working my dexterity fell 1 short so you need to be at 32 for all stats. Might be 33 but right around there.

The biggest thing is to MOVE. Strafe around the giant and just keep moving as you and dealing damage. As soon as you stop moving, he will usually hit you will the eye beam. If you keep moving, you will have a better chance at avoiding it. On a caster, at low levels try and hold/stun/fascinate/fear them. Whatever you have that stops them in their tracks first, then you can hit on them a bit. If you are higher levels, Finger of Death FTW.

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

This I can science by just adding some Diamonds with stats on them to my gear, and will see if that works.

This was the info that I needed. I took diamonds and added them to my gear, brining all my stats up to 40+. When the giant cursed me, it dropped all my stats by 32, allowing me to still drink a remove curse pot and continue on with the fight. Thanks again.

"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I usually bring a hireling when soloing. I park it by the entrance and pull it nearby if lag/stupidity kills me, but 95% of the time it goes unused.

On a Barbarian life, during which bumping stats for Fomorians was gear-prohibitive, I would park a hireling on passive in the corner of the room. When I get stat-drained I un-park it, actively click Heal, then re-park. Rinse and repeat, making sure to keep the boss facing in a different direction from the hireling

Like others said, find out what stat or stats are dropping so low that they are making you helpless, then use a swap stat item for those fights (for a cheap fix just grab vendor trash items for those stats off the auction house) or better yet add augments to your main gearset for a better, permanent solution.

Do they target every stat, or just certain ones? I dont have much playtime on Legendary Fey yet.

I hope its just certain ones, because if they can debuff any stat -32...that seems like a kinda unfair way to require you to have +8 supreme tomes :P Kinda hard to get your dump stats that high without one

Spell absorb and spell resist makes their spells mute. I carry my 50 charges ioun stone and the cloak with 25 from giant hold. On a solo r3 run i ran out of charges when the giant was at about 10% hp left so it works out well.

I came to strongly dislike Formorians very quickly on my first run through Feywild because of the curse thing. I think the worst part is that they quite often inflict the curse again before the previous one has even expired. A couple of seconds leeway would be delightful, and somewhat less aggravating.

On the other hand, this thread prompted me to craft a swap item to cover my two 'problem stats' when fighting the red named Formorians; not sure why I didn't think to do that before. I stupidly just assumed in knocked two stats down to 0 every time, so that was very useful info
    On a break. BRB maybe.

The fomorian curse reduces your str/dex. I know on EN it's -20 to each, not sure about other difficulties, but yeah it can suck lol.

Where possible I use the terrain when on casters and ranged. If you stand behind something and peek around a corner you can hit them but they can't hit you. If done properly you can set the auto attack and go get a snack (since they have so many HP)

I had this issue the first time through. I have a swap cc crafted trinket with str, dex and ins str and I have an ins dex 5 slotted somewhere. Between that, tome, littany augment, globe of imperial blood augment, ship buffs I am not helpless when cursed on R6 solo.

You can also use remnant potions (+2 to each stat) and yugo potions for str/dex if that is not quite enough.

Did this recently get changed? I normally used the 50 spell absorption trinket to 'tank' the formorian, but last night when I went to do it I was killed in seconds by the eye ray and only 1 charge was absorded by my trinket.
