I'm guessing it's off because it was never intended by the Devs to be on on the HC server. The Devs have pretty consistently said that HC isn't going to have Events, and it hasn't till now. While I wasn't too surprised to see coins dropping, I was kinda surprised to see the Jester out and about handing out beneficial cookies.

Maybe I'm wrong and he was intended to be on HC whose disappearance was a mistake, but I'm not expecting him to return.

But yet, we had the entire mimic festival, last HC season.

The entire rather dangerous and quite often fatal mimic festival...

I love it when people are consistent.

That was exclusive to the HCL, and part of the season's McGuffin.

I love it when people try to be cute, but just demonstrate themselves to be confused.

There was no "mimic festival" on HC - there were (unannounced!) mimics, that you could not opt out of, and then, only toward the end (and after much whining), there was a reward vendor. Entirely diff.

Little point to coins dropping on HC if we have to wait a year to turn them in. Iirc, toward the end of January the jester vanishes.

I turned in a few coins yesterday, and when I got a Suulomades cookie I promptly set a quick port to the portable hole on my hotbar as an "oh sh!t" button.

At any rate, I don't see a serious problem with Festivult being on HC. Clearly the difficulty has varried from season to season, what with the mimics one season, and extra lives on another

We had a discussion about this today and decided to not keep Festivult on the Hardcore server as it had been unintentionally left on. Sorry about that! We ultimately decided to stick to our stated rule about "no festivals or bonuses on the Hardcore server".

    That would go against the

statement. It is the collector that provides the bonus not the coins in the chests.

The problem of course is that SSG's decisions have created a situation in which most active players have earned coins; but it is the individuals who have turned in their coins now have certain advantages over those that didn't. In all fairness I believe you should turn the Jester on for a period of time to allow any player who collected coins the opportunity to turn in coins to have the potential to earn those same advantages.

That'd just perpetuate the disparity to anyone who rolled a HC char after the festival was turned off. You'd just be creating even more unfairness in the long term, especially since players would realize now that they have an opportunity for an uneven advantage, and thus would be incentivized to take maximal advantage while they can

Better to just cut it off now. There will be winners and losers no matter how you cut it, that ship has sailed...so just minimize the damage by ending it ASAP.

    I would have to agree.

Out of fairness, the Jester should be turned back on.
Stopping the coins from dropping is fine.

Let folks that got coins a chance to turn them in.

    Fair is fair

Should at least turn the jester on temporarily during the After season to turn in coins. Jester leaves Jan. 12th on live servers and Hardcore ends Feb. 1st.

ugh this just makes me sad.

I know that the formal faq for hardcore says

Will festivals or DDO bonus day events be active on the Hardcore League server?
No festivals or DDO bonus days will be active on the Hardcore League server.
but I really liked festivult coins dropping on hardcore. aside from adding some boosts for low level in a hardcore season with a shortened duration, I thought it was also nice to collect coins while running hardcore. I was a bit upset that festivult would be running during the hardcore season and since I am trying to run hardcore, I do not have time to run on the regular server to run festivult.

the festivult event running on hardcore I thought was good cheer and fun.

any chance that we can change your mind to bring festivult back?

I think it's worth considering along with the community's thoughts on it whether Festivult, Snowpeaks, Crystal Cove, etc. should or should not run during Hardcore.

    Agree and add:

Too sudden a change with no notice, get the policy, but at the end of the day the benefit was in the live wild, and the expectation was that it was allowable, and some benefitted and some didn't. I was hoarding to turn in at later levels, and I had this expectation Festivult was a purposeful thing, nothing was said prior to the contrary.

Fair enough to halt coin drops, and please consider to re-introduce the jester please to unload our coins.

I enjoyed participating in hardcore and festivult at the same time. It made me feel like I was not missing out on one or the other.

I thought that ssg had made a generous gesture of running Festivult in the spirit of the season.
