Thumbs down De-guild and killed bug

    Hi all,

I got a guild invite to DeathSmile on Hardcore to get the movement ship buff on my crafting toon. As soon as I got on the guild ship, I got the ship buffs, and then de-guilded while on the main deck so as not to gum up the in-demand guild cap of 1,000 characters. The game screen went blank, then immediately removed me from the guild ship and stuck me high above the marketplace to free fall to my death on the bridge nearest the Lordsmarch Bank similar to a pear-shaped failed teleport. This took my level 238 crafter to the Land of the Lost Souls, along with all of my crafting reagents and auction house items.

I believe this to not be working as intended, whether it is being kicked from the ship when I de-guilded, or sticking me in a failed teleport situation high above the Marketplace to fall to my death.

Either way, I would like to make this unfortunate death/bug to be brought to light if it isn't already known.

My guess is that no one else from the guild was currently on the ship those ships if you were the only member on the ship when you quit the guild making the guild ship think you left the ship and with no guild member there the ship instance ceased to exist

This is working just like on live servers if you are not in a party with a current guild member and quit the guild you are kicked from the ship and if no feather fall will be in free fall mode I believe the drop location can vary but the result is not going to be good on hardcore.

If you don't have a feather-fall item on-hand at all times on HC, you have no one to blame but Isaac Newton for your untimely demise.
A little known fact - If you die in Ohio, you also die in real life. The same is true for many other U.S. States!

    Default Not a bug.

Yes, this is not a bug. Happened to my HC4 cosmetic mule. Joined for buffs, quit and fell to my death. No FF and missed the fountain landing. Ah well, you live and learn.

Such a pretty collection of hair dyes got locked away for awhile.

    i'm sorry for you OP.

i got intrigued by this and tried a dozen times.

a char of mine guilded a test toon and both were on airship, the airship instance was active all the time.

i had the test toon leave the guild and poof, it was falling down in the market. i tried from cargo, from decks, and in multiple locations outside, too see if leaving the guild it's a bit like jumping down, i mean, you have multiple locations where you can land and it depends from where you jump down.

no change, the outcome is always the market fall. it does not matter where you are on the ship or if you leave or get kicked.

not surprised that old turbine, professional griefers, did not miss a chance to maximize potential damage\inconvenience for the players. it makes no sense, i get that if you get kicked from a guild you may end up walking the plank, this would be even funny and fitting, but saying goodbye and jumping down from an airship in a drama exit, why. sure if you leave the guild you are supposed to insta exit the ship, but why the spawn point is not just the harbor, or the market is good too but, like, on the ground! or a pond somewhere, another "jump down" variant, but not potentially deadly.

what happened to you is exactly how the game works. i mean, in a normal situation, it does not matter if you fall, who cares. even if it kills you, who cares no big deal, i know i'm ranting about a really minor detail, just pointing out some old coding that makes no sense but in normal situations who cares, not relevant, even if it shows the specific intent of harming you somehow for no reason, thanks old turbine, but, generally speaking, some weird old code may ruin some new ideas by ssg and in a new setting e.g. hardcore this minor little tiny detail becomes for real potentially relevant and potentially extremely damaging and inconvenient for the players, as this thread shows.
    storage solution suggestion: Collection

omni-cosmetic system suggestion: Arbiter d'Phiarlan, the Weaver of Guises

This is how i always play on HC. First thing i do is Farm Borderland wilds for the FF Permanent cloak and i only remove it once i have a better FF item.
Heck even if i get into High level/Epics were i have an ability that gives me this effect i still wear the item (on Live i have been burnt by this, for some reason the effect deactivated and i fell to my death after a failed teleport, now i always wear an FF item regardless)
It's not worth the risk of swapping items over just to increase your DPS by a couple of points.

I know this is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted, but if it can help just one person not die. Than i consider this message a success

Unless they've changed the teleport "Oops" and the airship kick as well you have to actually switch your Featherfall off and then back ON for it to be engaged.
In fact that kind of thing was so common for me over the years, I use Control-R and Control-F on every character to swap off and re-don a Featherfall item. (Also handy when you DO want to fall fast).

I haven't had an Oops in quite a while so not sure if that feature is still in place.

Hey Yav was really sorry to hear about your death to this - let me know if you need anything from me - happy to send you a guild invite not just a buff invite.
