Unfortunately our world broadcast system is largely not functioning correctly at the moment, and scheduled broadcasts are not properly sending (or sending one after the other at odd times in the future). It is something we are working on actively.
Have fun, and don't forget to gather for buffs!

Of course you are, but this whole conversation makes it appear like you're trying to minimize/trivialize/dismiss our thoughts and the issues we're trying to bring to light. Is this the most important thing ever? of course not, but that doesn't mean it can't be talked about, especially as it's prevalent in the now.
Some people didn't know.
There is one messaging channel that would have made sure that almost 100% of the people it would affect knew, the in-game announcement.
That system didn't get used and people are angry.
Saying it was talked about elsewhere is not a valid argument. We can not be expected to monitor every DDO message channel 24 hours a day. If you have 10 message channels then it is the responsibility of SSG to MAKE SURE emergency information is on ALL of those channels.
But now we see that there was a reason for not using the announcements.

I think people are missing the point. Not knowing about the update because you don't read forums/social media or didn't see it on the launcher, is irrelevant.
The problem is their world broadcast system is having issues and they know about it. If they expected you to only know info via social media/launcher then WHY would they have a world broadcast system? That's the most important one because the people most affected will be IN GAME.
If you know your world broadcast warning system is broken, PLAN B! Seriously saying there's no way for someone at SSG to pop on each server and do a server-wide message? Put a pop-up message in the character select screen? Hell, even send an email an hour beforehand.
Not everyone will check their email but it would still be better than the policy of "Oh you didn't know about downtime because you don't read our forum/social media? Well we told you we were having notification problems in a forum thread."
Mains - Messam, Indalecio, Mozenrath, Quackerjack.
I rarely play in the mornings, so I might be off... but... almost every other time they take down the server they issue an in-game broadcast as a warning - usually multiple times with at least 30-60 mins head's up. The one time they don't do it it's the player's fault? Ya... I don't think so.
>“The internet’s on fire right now,” said Adam Meyers, senior vice president of intelligence at the cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike. “People are scrambling to patch,” he said, “and all kinds of people scrambling to exploit it.” He said Friday morning that in the 12 hours since the bug’s existence was disclosed that it had been “fully weaponized,” meaning malefactors had developed and distributed tools to exploit it.
