    Default Did Severlin accidently reveal the new race?

    Total speculation of course.

    Sev said revealing the class of the new iconic would spoil the new race.

    The only ftp class not currently represented with an iconic is sorceror. Of course it's possible they skip over sorceror and create a second iconic for a class, but it seems unlikely.

    New race = kobold

    Total sidenote from the Q&A, what does filigree have to do with cosmetics? That point really confused me.

    So I downloaded a PDF of the 5th edition version of the Isle of Dread. I briefly flipped through it.
    I haven't noticed any kobolds.
    Some of the races that I saw were:
    * Rakasta - feline humanoids, some riding on saber-tooth tigers
    * Neanderthals - basically just humans
    * Dryad
    * Werecreatures
    * Lizardfolk and Pterafolk
    * Phanaton - small monkey/racoon humanoid creatures

    kobold would be welcome
    lizardfold would be an easy reskin from dragonborn model and they already exist ingame
    but kobold and kobold shaman would be awesome especially if they were to add armor options
    phanaton would be interesting but unlikely they would invest in a new raccoon model

    You could be right, but as far as I know there is nothing in Isle of Dread that makes a kobold race / iconic a logical tie-in.

    Lizardfolk is a much more logical choice.

    Let's be real: we're not getting kobold or any monster races in DDO. Yeah, it's a funny meme, but that's it. There are many more races that aren't in game yet that fit way better into either the Eberron setting or the Isle of Dread. Even if they decided to do a monster race, hobgoblins or gnolls would make a lot more sense.

    In the context of the Isle of Dread lizardfolk seems to make sense, and they do have 'iconic' shamans.

    And something no one's mentioned yet - it could also be the Yuan Ti. IIRC the Isle of Dread story is tied to them, and we've already seen Yuan Ti sorcerers as enemies in the game.

    Lizardfolk Shaman does seem pretty logical and Saltmarsh recently spoke to the 'humanity' of the Lizardfolk. They are folk after all.

    After seeing an Azer in Sharn ( House of Pain) I had my hopes it would be added at least as a Subrace such as wild elves. Time passed and nothing on it so i gues not.

    Looks more like Lizardfolk, we already have some allied ones at Saltmarsh.

    We could however have an Iconic that is not actually direct related to the expansion itself. Wasnt that the case of Bladeforged?

    If it's Bullywug there will be some comical hop frequencies occurring in party. Can't wait for Bullyugs on mounts.

    I'm pretty sure Yuan-ti were not part of the original X1 module. The module backstory culminates around a monstrous race of amphibian telepaths called kopru and a hidden or lost temple they still inhabit on the island. Maybe they did a "Return to" and changed it up though...

    SSG could always go in a different direction but they seem to, thankfully, stay faithful to the source material for classic modules.

    I believe the context of that was in having a use for all the filigrees we collect but do not use, possibly using them to purchase cosmetics.

    I think that's exactly it.

    I'm more thinking along the lines, what would be the easiest for them to implement. Yuan-ti purebloods are pretty humanoid-looking, so should be fairly easy to animate etc.

    If they do introduce Kolbold, it better have the Spiderman ability to climb walls and rain fire on their enemies. You know, like the ones in Walk the Butcher's Path.

    Honestly none of the classes really scream an immediate and exclusive association with any race...kobold sorc is often requested but by no means the only sorc race

    It's not actually Isle of Dread, but given all the dinosaurs the only "giveaway" I might see is Barbarian suggesting a Talenta Halfling

    imho

    with the next expansion i give for granted an iconic + new race.

    for the iconic, the last free class, sorc. and iconics are done, if they don't switch some class to f2p. and with done, i mean some epic stuff is closed and new legendary (grind) stuff will come.

    and with iconic race, a new race, a pattern not unusual, an expansion is the best moment for a new race or class. it gives the impression of buying something and.....it deactivates completionist, gating the way to have it back asap behind expansion bundle cash\early access, not just here and now with points like it would be for a regular store item.
    storage solution suggestion: Collection

    omni-cosmetic system suggestion: Arbiter d'Phiarlan, the Weaver of Guises

    mounted talenta halfling would be amazing and definitely worthy of a new expansion iconic but talenta halflings are native to eberron.
    i hope they respect the original setting for isle of dread and introduce the mystara campaign world properly to ddo and NOT make the isle of dread another portal in gatekeepers grove sending adventurers to the isle just to find more codex pages.
    not sure they would do another barbarian since shifter razorclaw is already barb. but if not kobold shaman sorc the talenta halfling barbarian riding dinosaur using spears would be very cool

    The art for kopru is varied but it looks to be somewhere between a Suhaugin & Yun ti

    Sorcerers are known for their elemental mastery. Genasi is a race tied to the elements. So the next race is genasi. Genasi would give the potential of multiple variants which makes them the one of the more enticing races from my perspective.

    lol kobolds btw.

    We don't know if it's going to be Sorcerer though. It doesn't have to be, though it is the last ftp class so I'm inclined to agree that it will be Sorcerer.

    Lizardfolk would cool too. Basically anything but kobold please.

    Remember that time when Sev thought you cast Raise Dead/Resurrection on the Soul Stone of the toon instead of on the toon itself?

    There was a time (in D&D) when Drow were considered "monsters", pure NPC territory. Things change.
