Default Skill points bug? Im stuck!

I am currently leveling a wizard and all has been fine (past life 53) but while trying to level from 4 to 5 and have 9 skill points available. But for some reason all of a sudden specific skills are locked out.

I want to raise heal, balance, and Intimidate which I was able to do just fine the previous levels but now I can't. Is there something new I am unaware of playing a wizard that prevents this? Am I just super bugged? I have logged off...switched class levelers etc. When I go to another class and say i want to multi-class it allows me to put points in just fine. It is only when I click on wizard.

    Someone please advise...bug/screwed/normal?

    Thanks

Sounds like a bug. Try logging out/in and then visit the trainer again.

There's a max per level that can be spent in skills that are non-class skills.

    That was my first thought too. And working it out;

    Level 1 : 2 Points (4 points invested max)
    Level 2: 2 1/2 Points
    Level 3: 3 Points
    Level 4: 3 1/2 Points
    Level 5: 4 Points

Yet somehow OP managed to invest more points into them that technically allowable at Level 4. Which means, OP, shut this thread, walk away with your head down and invest those points quietly into other stuff, because you're ahead right now.

Pure wizard? Used one of the paths (that does weird things sometimes)? So many things to wonder why the points are where they're at.

Pure wizard. I went palemaster. So can only have 4 at level 5? How did I invest earlier. I didn't do anything different. Will be pastliving so not looking to cheat the system. Just curious why its an issue.

    My guess? Lag.

Since U51, a lot of players have logged on. This has resulted in more stuttering on the servers than usual. If during levelling, you added the points in, then walked away, went back to change the selection because you wanted to be sure (it happens), or added points whilst it was lagging, that could have added more than what was possible.

I think you will find that the OP has already spent points at level 5 to reach the 4 points spent in those skills before taking the SS. This would mean all is correct as that is the max for off class skills at that level.

To the OP. Skills come in 2 formats. Class skills and non class skills. Skills without an asterisk next to them are class skills of which you can have up to 4 at creation + 1 point per level up (3+level for easy calculation). Those with an asterisk next to them are non class and only gain 2 points at creation and half a point per level up (1.5 + half level for easy calculation).

If you would like to increase a non class skill to the same level as a class skill it requires multiclassing with a class that gains those skills as a class skill. You can then max out those skills that the new class has even when leveling as a wizard (although at a cost of 2 points per level). Be aware though there are a lot of potential issues with multiclassing so I would heavily recommend doing your homework 1st so as not to inadvertently break your character.

There's no + or - lit up for those skills, so no points have been put into them. If they'd put the 0.5 in then the - symbol would show clickable; if they hadn't then the + symbol would show clickable- in this case neither shows clickable. It's a bug and appears to be a bug that resulted in an extra 0.5 at an earlier level.

Just to confirm for everyone, I hadn't spent any points at level 5. The screen was just me talking to the trainer and showing what pops up and not touching anything. I have 9 points to spend at level 5 (20 starting int and tomes). The heal/balance/Intimdate were all locked out from the start. Also if you notice the backwards button is locked out also. If I was of to spent the .5 point as some have suggested, there would of been a backwards button allowing me to remove it to spend somewhere else.

I am about to be level 6 and will see if it allows me to spend points back into them. I ended spending points into something I was going to take at future levels when the tome int points become a factor so hoping overall it doesnt change my overall skill point goals. But will know for sure at level 6.

Am I missing something else or just misreading what has been said?

Sorry I should have looked a little more at the screen shot so my bad. If that's the case then Jing is correct and it looks like you bugged on a previous level and were able to spend more points than you should have. If you can raise those skills again at level 6 (you should be able to spend 1 point in each then) then it should balance out long term. If not I would take another screen shot and try getting hold of someone from CS. If you do need to go down that road I would suggest maxing your chances of getting a response by raising a ticket, filing a bug report and posting here.

Was allowed to put points in at 6. Should at this point be allowed to put points in as I level. Weird bug that I was allowed to put points in ahead of schedule. Will submit a bug report. Thanks all for the help.

Good to here and glad it resolved itself. Thanks for the update.
