Launcher crashing (Steam install)

Hi.

I don't have much time to play these days, but now the launcher has started crashing so I guess this is it for me. It starts downloading some stuff like normal, then it just dies.

Using a Steam install. I tried re-installing to no avail. I haven't played for the last few months so I'm not sure if it was U51, U50 or something else that broke it.

Event Viewer registers the following application error:

The launcher log just says:

Before somebody asks, I will not go through the trouble of re-installing it again from the website. Fix your steam launcher.

EDIT: Also, I tried to paste the dxdiag info into a code block as per instructions, but the forum wouldn't let me post and claimed I lacked some "authentication token". I tried twice. Removing the dxdiag code block worked for some reason.
