Does DDO consider a Kukri as a dagger?

Hello,

Within DDO, does it consider a kukri knife same as a dagger for;
- race; Shadar-Kai (has special dagger stuff )
- enchantment tree; Vistani Knife Fighter (named knife but all the details talk about daggers)
??
I hope the answer is YES.

I see within DDO a dagger as;
- category; Light
- proficiency; Simple
- damage; piercing

I see within DDO a kukri as;
- category; Light
- proficiency; Martial
- damage; slashing

I started a new Shadar-Kai character and rather than doing a ranger with dual welding Scimitars (like I did before), Looking to do a rogue with dual welding kukri. BUT the kukri say they are knifes, not daggers, and I don't want to lose any of the special features daggers get when fighting with kukri.

no, kukri is not a dagger for ddo.

if you find something that specifically says dagger, it does not include kukri.

Confirmed. Each weapon has a distinct name, and each ability/feat/enhancement/whatever names the specific weapons it covers.

The Assassin rogue tree gives bonuses to Daggers and Kukri, as it specifically mentions both.

Shadar-Kai just need a Light weapon for their chain attacks, no specific Dagger mentioned, so it would work with Kukris.

Vistani is just Daggers and Throwing Daggers. No love for Kukris there.

Kukris are vastly inferior to daggers to the point of kukris being effectively pointless.

Daggers have perks, if u want the kukri look.. make a cosmetic.

I think now the only class to use a kukri might be a dex tempest but then scimmies have a higher base damage

I thought I read alchemists making good use of kukris? I personally have never used them as weapons in 10+ years of playing DDO.

Early in DDO history, Kukri's were a very popular choice in the off hand with TWF (oft paired with a khopesh). Have not seen them as relevant for many years.

1.) that DDO enhancement tree is name "Vistani Knife Fighter" with word knife, not dagger.
2.) in DDO kukri are called knifes and not daggers.

As I understand the replies, I will not be doing a Shadar-kai/Rogue/VKF/Kukri character, but a Shadar-kai/Rogue/VKF/dagger character instead.

Strimtom made a Shadar-Kai Rogue build with a Kukri, but that was a niche/suboptimal build. Basically, as a 1st life toon he didn't have enough AP to put into Vistani, so ended up using Kukri.
I think it was something like 18 Shadar-Kai, 43 Assassin, 3 Acrobat, 16 Horizon Walker

The way DDO treats the kukri is how they treat assassins. Those two were tied together for a long time. Most assassins dual wielded midnight greetings for years. The assassin subclass has got to be the most pigeonholed class in DDO. Especially now that they're all undead dagger using shades who dwell in the shadow plane.
