Suddenly getting error [Name:client_map_1.dat43175][Source:client_map on my wifes computer when trying to update DDO.
She has had DDO running on this system for years no problem. I've tried to repair and then did clean uninstall and re-install from fresh download.
the updater gets to 44% for a long while then to 77%, then jumps to 88% and immediately gives the above error (appears cut off but that is all that shows)

Nothing new or changed on her computer except for possibly Windows updates (Using Win 10)
Searches have not shown me anything with this message, anyone have any advice?

Update, now mine goes to 44% and then fails out on trying to update.... Its been a few months since we tried to play but NEVER had issues in the past.

I'm running in to ALMOST the exact same issue - I'm getting Name:client_map_1.data43303. Tried two fresh installs, tried restarting. Tried having a friend whose client is working copy over his client_map_1.DAT file. No luck.

Hi I'm getting a very similar problem. Game was working fine yesterday, today it failed patching.

Spent most of today trying to work this out and it's driving me insane, was going to post my own thread (and still might) but saw yours so thought I'd chip in my 2c.

My original installation was through Steam, however I've tried installing through the standalone client too.

No matter what I try, I'm getting the error "[Name:client_map_2.dat-40232][Source:client_map" through the launcher and then the launcher closes automatically.


Looking through the PatchClient.log file I'm getting about a million lines similar to

Removed temp files in %appdata%/local, Documents, removed all instances of DDO in the registry, and restarted between each installation
Ran these installations multiple times with 'Run as administrator' functionality on an administrator profile
Ran the launcher as admin too
Ran the launcher repair function (which I think just re-downloads all the .dat files?)
Deleted the client_cell_2.dat, client_map_2.dat, and all the client_map.dat-* files in the /forward directory and ran the launcher again. It re-downloaded the files, then the same error occurs.
I can browse directly to the URL http://akamai.ddo.com/ddo/patch/iter...ap_2.dat-40233
Finally, to reiterate, I was playing the game yesterday and had been pretty much every day for the past few weeks, so is this some sort of fault with the new patch?

Basically have no ideas left short of reinstalling my OS, and I really feel like I shouldn't need to do that. Any insights or support would be appreciated.

Having the exact same issue as a potential new player hahaha. so far tried installing through standalone launcher, through steam, and through the wrapper all of which give the same error after downloading user_map_1.dat blah blah... anyone make any progress?

Making no progress so far unfortunately, but it looks like we're not alone and so hopefully it might be fixed soon?

I've slowed down my investigations as it was driving me up the wall, but I think it may have something to do with the Akamai file host/server? I found a thread with a similar issue (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...led?styleid=12) but I'm not entirely sure if this is relevant. What leads me to believe that it may be is that my 'installer.txt' log file in my %appdata%\local\Akamai folder reads as follows:

Edit: there's no 'Netsession_Installer' in my Akamai folder, and I was struggling to find somewhere to download this directly from. If someone could find this I'd be happy to test running the .exe prior to running the launcher again.

I've tried reinstalling several times afternoon without restarting my PC or removing my current installations 'cause as per my previous post, I've tried the whole host of restarting/antivirus/firewall/bla bla.

Currently downloading DDO on my partner's laptop and I'll see if it works and if I can transfer it accross.

In any case I'll let you all know how it goes.

Just a quick update to note that I've logged a ticket with SSG support but I'd highly suggest anyone having this issue does the same and provides their logs.

DDO launcher logs can be found at C:\Users\%YOURUSERNAME%\AppData\Local\Dungeons and Dragons Online
Akamai installer logs can be found at C:\Users\%YOURUSERNAME%\AppData\Local\Akamai

Still waiting for it to download/install on the backup laptop, will let you know how it goes.

I have the exact same issue. The launcher just crashes out while it's working on "client_map_1.dat-43169".

I've tried: full uninstall/reinstall, reboot, disabling AV, running the launcher as administrator. Same result.

This is with the stand-alone install, NOT via Steam.

Sorry it's not much help OP, but I was pleased to know it's not just me! Hopefully they'll issue a proper fix soon.

i Had the same error after fresh install, tried on two different PCs (both steam and standing stone clients) and same, either the map1 error or map4 error so i followed the guide here https://ddowiki.com/page/Launcher and inserted the command -disablepatch in the shortcut to the DND launcher and it went straight to the login screen this time.

I put in my details and it started to load character data then came up error 'dont have current version of game client' or something like that and it closed the launcher.
Tried it again with the -disablepatch line still in and same as above.

I then removed the -disablepatch from the shortcut to see if it was fixed but nope, same error as OP so looks like the patcher has a bug in it, if any devs are following this thread... please can you fix

We have now corrected this issue, but unfortunately for folks who already ran into it, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the game client. This had to do with a bad update file that has now been corrected, but unfortunately we can't fix this one file for people who ran into it.
