DDO Store Update 10-7-2021

The thread title says "DDO Store Update" and the first post says this change is temporary. That makes it pretty clear, imo, that:

1) The external store was enabled because the internal store had to be disabled
2) This was because the internal store is being updated (from technical standpoint, not just content - that usually doesn't need a shutdown)
3) This is temporary and the store inside of the game will come back as soon as they finish their work on it

If they were shutting down the in-game store permanently or if they wanted to give users the ability to use either of the stores, they wouldn't say this change is temporary...

This is your guess.
However in the first post there was not a single word about the ingame store.
That makes pretty unclear why and how long it is closed.
My guess can be: it is closed due a new bug or misconfiguration they made while they enabled external store.
Someone else's guess can be: they just closed it for good.
Lack of official information leads to confusion and frustration.

We have temporarily enabled the "system browser" function of the DDO Store, which will open the Store on your default system browser rather than in the game UI.

Note: The 'Try It On' feature, which allows you to preview a cosmetic item on your character prior to purchase, is temporarily unavailable.

I have been forced to open the DDO Store via my system browser ever since that option was first implemented. If I try and turn it off via the game Options, it will still open the store in my web browser. That checkbox in Options seems to do nothing for me. This issue has persisted through complete reinstallations of DDO and Windows.

It is an interesting double-edged sword for me:
While I prefer interacting within the store itself via my web browser because it seems much more responsive, it is frustrating to use that option since I run the game in Full Screen mode and my three monitors take a few seconds to adjust back to the desktop, then another few seconds when I switch back to the game. I need to use Full Screen mode to get full use of NVidia's G-Sync capability (windowed Full Screen does not provide the same performance). It is especially annoying when I switch back to the game but it's just a black screen. When that happens, I have to kill DDO via the taskbar or Task Manager and relog.

As someone who appears be part of the illustrious group of users who can't access paypal through your store - is there any news on this? I'd really like to give you guys money, but you're making it rather difficult for me.

Did using the Legacy Client fix your issue? Also, is the Legacy Client even working anymore after the December 1st patch of 51.2?

i had problems with paypal and somehow with the legacy 32 bit client it worked and i was able to pay for the ddo store

and you are right. a message saying i don't have the correct version of the game stops the magic, it does not even launch.


so we now have ppl that cannot play and people like me that cannot use anymore that client as a workaround to buy from store.

weird situation.

Yeah, same issue for me. Which sucks, because I was planning to use the legacy client workaround to finally get a subscription sometime this month, together with someone else that I wanted to introduce to the game.

Guess that plan is scrapped for the foreseeable future. I'm honestly rather disappointed by the complete and utter lack of communication coming from SSG there. I expected better. Even a simple "we're still working on it and don't have an ETA yet" would've been better than the complete silence here, especially considering that this is an ongoing problem for over two months now. Sucky situation all around. But I guess at least I saved some money, huh?

I can no longer spend money in game anymore because the legacy client wasn't updated in the recent patch.
The legacy client was my only workaround to get the DDO Store to work.

Is there a solution in the making. I got 2 people who want to throw money at you for weeks now. Their enthusiasm is dwindling since they can't buy what they want.

We are back in business after last week's update! The legacy client is operational once again!

Starting DDO in the legacy client and entering the game through there is once more a viable workaround to make purchases through the DDO Store.

OK SSG, this is not just getting ridiculous anymore it got to the stage of absolutely bizarre and ludicrous.
Do you have any reaction to this whatsoever? You don't get any money from us! No money, like in no bills, cash, dollars, bucks, currency, pesetos, whatever you name it. You don't get it because it is blocked from your side!
