    Default DDO Store Update 10-7-2021

Update: At this time, the DDO Store has been returned to its standard in-game UI appearance. We are currently investigating an issue with Paypal being unavailable for some users, and will bring more information regarding Paypal as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you in game!

We have temporarily enabled the "system browser" function of the DDO Store, which will open the Store on your default system browser rather than in the game UI.

Note: The 'Try It On' feature, which allows you to preview a cosmetic item on your character prior to purchase, is temporarily unavailable.

I don't allow 3rd party cookies by default on my main browser. It's going to get rather annoying have to turn that on and off any time I want to use the ddo store.

But tested and the store does load in my browser just a hassle to do the extra step.

"we have temporary enabled" makes it sound like a good thing, but you're DISabling the in-game method and replacing it with one that doesn't work for some people, is much more of a hassle, and nobody asked for.

I mean, if you guys are just moving away from the in-game store because it's buggy for a lot of people, that's fine, but this is very misleading.

The use on the Default Browser doesn't work for me, as my default Browser doesn't like the store and I guess it is personal. When will this be fixed?

I suspect they are moving away from their Awesomium based embedded browser which is no longer being developed and switching to something like the Ultralight embedded browser. Probably some backend stuff needs to be changed before we get the patch next week.

Sounds like this works great for some people. However, there's a group of us it doesn't work for.

Clicking on the store gives a pop-up with a 'yes' and a 'no' option to opening up your browser, but it appears 'no' does nothing - any way to make that function properly and allow players the store option that works best for them?

Third posting this year! She's on a roll!

Store opens browser. Well, that sucks. The tater I run my game on punishes me for tabbing out of the game, voluntarily or not.

This looks very much like a security vulnerability.

Yeeeeah my browser tells me the store is garbage, and that is without any additional security features turned on. Not sure what's the issue with the site, but I'm not allowing it any additional wiggleroom than what intrusive social media-sites need to run. A good idea would've been to fix the browser store and test it's functionality with the most commonly used browsers before taking the in-game store down.

Sorry for this coming off as snarky but there's really no nicer way of putting it, knowing I'm far from the only one having this issue.

    I agree.

I have seen her only once (or twice ?) at the Games Com in Germany ... Those were the times ...

Good to know you did it.
But why did not mentoin you disabled ingame store at the same time (for some reason or by accident)?
It wouldn't have been a big job, but that would have dispelled the doubts why is it not working.
[sarcasm]Or you thought we wouldn't notice? Commincating half truths, makes feel you consider us a fool, and is insulting.[/sarcasm]

Anyway. realy sad that you can’t do one thing well without doing at least one thing wrong.
Enabling store in system browser can be good for some ppl, good job.
Killing ingame store is very bad for a lot of ppl, very bad job.

    - Asking to open store in external browser every f***ing time, while there is an ui setting for it in options, feels like an careless / incompetent work.
(If you want remind us the existence of this setting, just put a checkbox in the popup to remember the choice, with a remark where we can change it later. Not rocket science, basic ui design.)
    - Browser store is not working without 3rd party cookies. People disabled them for a reason. Forcing us to re-enable, is not nice (and may violate GDPR).
Not to mention how uncomfortable 'Alt-Tab'-ing out of game is, and may cause crashes.
Btw as major browsers are dropping support for 3rd party cookies, more and more people will be unable to use it.

Someone on your side realy should sit down and think a bit before act.
Annoy players with unnecessary popups, is not nice.
Building a system that require an already deprecated technology to work, is not the best idea of the century, at least obviously not future proof.

Please, please restore ingame store as soon as possible.

Does switch this eliminate the per character filter of already purchased or not needed?

My toon shows all tomes and Drow, FVS and Arti as purchasable even though I've already got them.

It does look like the Account level filters are working - Shared Bank previous purchases are not available which is good.

    Thumbs down Seriously??

Nope! I will not allow cookies. My browser thinks "store" is garbage also. Please keep store totally within the game environment.

This was another poorly thought out change not serving the player community in any sense. The fact you didn't announce it shows you knew it was bogus.

You need to start making sound game decisions, begin focusing on fixing existing long standing issues, restrict sloppy programmed new content, and Standing Stone management apologizes for the **** way they've been running our game.

Watching your staff thrash around with simple maintenance every week is not worth the VIP subscription.

I have played since beta. My opinions are my own. It is obvious you are having issues with "quality of service" with the software for transactions in game on inventory and combat results. And equally obvious your decisions are being made are to prevent further expenditures on infrastructure to support game play.

Sad it is coming to this.

No more $$$ for you till things are put right.

    Default Come on, people...

The thread title says "DDO Store Update" and the first post says this change is temporary. That makes it pretty clear, imo, that:

    1) The external store was enabled because the internal store had to be disabled
    2) This was because the internal store is being updated (from technical standpoint, not just content - that usually doesn't need a shutdown)
    3) This is temporary and the store inside of the game will come back as soon as they finish their work on it

If they were shutting down the in-game store permanently or if they wanted to give users the ability to use either of the stores, they wouldn't say this change is temporary...

Thanks for posting some common sense!

I was debating a response to the above rant regarding cookies and other tin foil hat issues, but decided it wasn't worth engaging. As with most rants on these forums.

SSG, keep up the good work. I believe most of us are happy with the progressions you're making and your efforts of keeping our game alive.

ok. i get that your trying.

i get that it could be a nice feature for some people.

for me its annoying. i still want to be able to see the game and read guild chat while im looking at the store.... i dont want to have to enable cookies for one site. to me, if i have to enable cookies for it i will enable once, so that i can cancel my sub. and i will never buy points again as its too annoying to do.

    give us a choice!

I'm not sure about the reason behind the in game store closing but it seems to be a "MUST DO NOW" type of situation.
As in, SSG doesn't have a choice and thus isn't able to stretch that choice to us either.
