So one of the biggest annoyances in DDO for playing at level cap is having a character that can do 2 roles when needed but having to through all of the pain of resetting enhancements, reaper points, EDs and swapping gear around...
The suggestion is essentially a vehicle to allow characters to have saved profiles which, when activated, will attempt to apply all of the changes necessary for your character to move into that role while avoid all or most of the plat cost and time of doing so.
The vehicle however is an opportunity to add something that will suit players and developer goals: Ascendancy Feats.
Ascendancy Feats:
- Chosen at level cap (level 35? 40?)
- Provide certain bonuses to a certain style (Ascendant Slayer, Ascendant Defender, Ascendant Controller, Ascendant Healer, Ascendant Specialist, Ascendant Blaster... okay maybe the names could use work)
- First activated feat when used saves your currently selected Enhancement points, Reaper points, Destiny points and equipment.
- Second activated feat attempts to return your character to the saved state (can only be used in a public area or perhaps after shrining via a store item)
Initially a character will only be able to have 1 of these feats that they select at level cap but via Ascendant Reincarnation they can accrue additional bonuses to their Ascendancy feats and with 3 reincarnations completed they receive the full feat providing an additional profile for use at cap (so to have 2 profiles to switch between you would need to complete at least 3 reincarnations for 1 additional profile).
Even without any reincarnations it will still be a significant QOL feature allowing you to reduce the cost/time of switching roles by 1/2.
Of course, the update that brings out the feature can also include a Tome that provides a profile to one or more of an accounts characters (though perhaps make it a generic profile?).

R: DDO needs profiles to allow us to switch our characters around easily depending on what the party needs.
