Default Legendary Red Dragonscale Armor Crafting

Has anyone had issues crafting Legendary RDA? Last week I attempted to craft a Legendary Medium RDA in the Altar of Legendary Rituals. The altar consumed my materials (250 threads, the shard, etc.) and gave me a level 20 normal epic RDA. I farmed 1250 VoN runes to make another armor (I wanted to make a light RDA anyhow), assuming I had done something wrong (i.e. maybe I needed to make an epic version then upgrade it). I got the shard yesterday, put it in the Altar of Legendary Rituals again and received errors in crafting. I think the error was likely due to having materials split between my bank and my inventory. I then crafted the armor (since the legendary one crafted a level 20 one previously despite consuming my materials) in the epic alter and got another level 20 epic RDA which I hoped I could upgrade. Of course...the armor cannot be upgraded so I am out of (2) Shards of the Red Dragon, 250 Threads of Fate, and the other materials required to craft a legendary and epic version of RDA...and all I have to show for it is two sets of useless armor. I am most upset about the shards, as I have played since 2009 and only pulled the one...then bought the other. I was hoping to TR this weekend but now I need 10 more VoN runs so it is frustrating. Anyhow else experiencing issues? I put in a ticket but I spoke to someone else with similar issues and he said it has been weeks for him an not a peep from the devs. Thanks!

The recipes require an epic version of the item, 100 pack-specific ingredients (listed below), 5 Star Fragments, and, in case of raid items, 250 Thread of Fate

So you put in a lvl 20 medium armor and got a lvl 20 medium armor back?

So the first time I made the armor in the legendary altar I put in the shard, 20 scales, 5 star fragments, and 250 threads and got a medium lvl 20 version back...but it consumed all my materials. The second time I tried to make the light it gave me an error..so I made a lvl 20 version in the epic alter thinking I could upgrade it...but cannot.

You make the legendary version by upgrading the Epic version

    EDIT: I guess not...

I just tried to upgrade my L20 Light Armour but it wouldn't even accept it in the Legendary altar. It's an old version that I made before the changes so maybe that can't be upgraded?

Just look at the stupid altar, it shows you the recipe.

You don't need an epic armour, you need a shard of the red dragon, dragon scales, vault keys, star fragments, threads.

shard of the red dragon? wasn't that supposed to be replaced by vault keys? does it even drop anymore?

Default Red Dragon Shard - still a thing?

Curious about this one too. I was looking to craft the lvl 20 red armor after getting my 20 scales. I thought the shards were being replaced by the vault keys, etc. However, the recipe still requires the shard. Any suggestions or work arounds on this one? I couldn't find any clues via the forums or wiki

Red dragonscale armors never were a s/s/s thing. The shard was used in conjuction with red dragonscales and other materials to craft the armor, but there is no scroll or seal. To my knowledge, the Shard of the Red Dragon still drops and is still required for crafting red dragon armors.

Wiki notes this under recipes as an exception: Legendary dragonscale armors require shard of the red dragon, dragon scales, vault keys, star fragments, and threads; epic version of the armor is not needed

The shard still drops. You can, instead, turn in 1250 Vault runes to get the shard.

This^, in so many words, is how you say time and feedback on Lamannia are wasted.

    Default Thanks!

Thanks for the added info. I figured the shard was part of the shard system, but I thought I had seen a way to bypass. The Rune turn in is obviously it. I will have to check to see if I have enough of them.

Much appreciated, I will need to tune up my google-fu

    Default It works

Just made the legendary light armor, it does need the heroic version, not a shard of the dragon. Hover over the first slot in the recipe, cant see the armor, but the description pops up. Also, if you have an old version of the epic armor, you should be able to upgrade it in the stone of change. When they added new augment slots years ago, they added recipes to the stone of change for the old s/s/s items because of the old augment system. You have to put in dragon shards with the item, don't remember which ones or how many.

Made my legendary medium a couple of weeks ago. I checked, double checked, and triple checked the recipes as I got near completion. The requirement for the epic version of the armor is most definitely there at the legendary altar.

You make the epic version at the epic altar then upgrade to legendary at the legendary altar.

I have a hard time imagining how the OP made the epic version at the legendary altar, using the wrong ingredients to boot, the recipe simply isn't there, and it doesn't make anything that it doesn't have a recipe for.

Just to doublecheck I clicked on the Legendary Altar again to look at recipes. There are no Legendary Red Dragon armor recipes that do not require the Epic version of the armor first.

My best guess is that you used the Epic Altar, which does make the Epic armors. That would also be the reason you couldn't upgrade it in that particular altar. It would consume the Shard but you should have not spent the threads yet.
