Nonviolence, Reporting in! I've got another F2P Quest Idea for ya'll. Hope you'll continue to indulge me!
At this point, I've come to realize that most F2P additions will generally be standalone quests, rather than quest chains, given the last few F2P quests added in recent memory, like Tower of Frost. To that end, this quest will be a 1 and done, long-form quest. To account for the level split (Heroic Level 17, Epic Level 32) it will feature two versions, given by the same NPC, in a manner similar to Devil Assault, which has a Level 6 Version in 3 forms, as well as an Epic Version.
Plot Hook:
Master Chef Bendigern Longflavor of House Kundarak has a problem... in boasting of his skills, he has attracted many notorious and high-powered people (and beasts) to his clientele, and the upcoming Day of Feasting in Aryth (Eberron's November) is proving to be exceedingly busy. As a result, he has been booked by one of the senior members of the powerful ir'Tain Family that holds a great deal of influence in Sharn. They have asked him to host a feast for the ir'Tain Gala, much to his excitement and dismay!
With his Career and possibly his Life on the line, Master Chef Bendigern Longflavor is DESPERATE for additional help in his Kitchen. It's all hands on deck, and yours will do in a pinch.
Quest Overview:
Quest Level - 16 (Heroic) 32 (Epic / Legendary)
Objectives -
- 1 - Chef Longflavor has tasked you with assisting his own subordinate chefs and managers, with the goal of impressing 3 different Critics and the Host. These Critics change depending on whether it is Heroic or Epic.
- The Sous Chef Guy Fiery, is an Efreet who needs help with a massive seafood platter, requiring you to kill several Giant Shrimp, some Combative Clams, and a truly Colossal Crab. Oh and watch out for the Sahuagin!
- - The Protein Chef Jett ir'Tila, is a Human Chef from House d'Tharashk who needs an incredibly high quality meat, namely Golden Deer from the Feywild. He opens and portal and asks that you do not return without it. (On Epic Difficulty, it's a Unicorn!)
- - The Dessert Chef Beckkah Boromar, the black sheep of the Boromar Clan, requires a dizzying assortment of ingredients to be fetched from the West Larder. Worryingly, she suggests bringing extra weapons and armor before locking you inside. You won't be able to leave until you get what she needs. 5 Shortcrusts, 10 helpings of Aspic, 15 Helpings of Dark Sugar, 15 White Chocolate Bars, 15 Rare Fruits and 20 helpings of Syrup.
- - Lastly, the Maitre d' Narnolo Biufuzzo needs help dealing the rowdy patrons, requiring you to deliver meals, de-escalate conflicts, talk to the critics and take out the trash (figuratively and literally), as well as fending off attempts from rival cookery houses to invade and disrupt the proceedings.
- - The Critics on Heroic are Tafnul Reedhome of House d'Vadalis, Warmaster Skrignool of Droaam, and Archwizard Skye ir'Ruvin of The Twelve.
- - The Critics on Epic are Yarya Deepdepths the Thief Lord of Lhazaar, Kurtch Bigtooth the High Priest of Q'barra, and The Chief Banker of the Keeper.
- 2 - In addition to all this, you'll also be asked to regularly walk into the East Larder for other things, like Special Silk Napkins or Haunted Ketchup. Enemies in the Larder respawn each time.
- - 3 - Lastly, to complete the quest and satisfy the Host, you have to defeat and butcher a large monster for the central meal, wowing patrons. On Heroic, that monster is a Large Grizzly Owlbear while on Epic it is a Behemoth. If they're not willing to code a new monster they could always put something else, like a Displacer Beast or Purple Worm.
- - 4 - Optionals will include all the additional tasks, like clearing out enemies or defeating the thugs in the alleyway, as well as answering/using Social skills on the 3 Critics to either pacify them or help moderate their anger or raise their expectations. Tafnul and Yarya can be bluffed, Skrignool and Kurtch can be intimidated, while Skye and The Chief Banker require a diplomatic approach. Additionally on Heroic, a high Wilderness Lore works on Tafnul, and Religious Lore works on Skrignool.
I picture the map like a smaller version of Sable Manor or possibly like the Anniversary Party event with a central hub and corresponding doors to different areas. Beyond the central hall, there is an extensive Kitchen area and 2 Large Larders, East and West, both full of enemies. You can only enter the West Larder with permission from Beckkah, and to get in you have to speak to her assistant Harminous the Werewolf, Junior Cook.
Enemy List:- Outside in Alleyway - Daask Thugs (Goblins, Hobgoblins, Trolls, Gnolls, Orcs), Humanoids (<Loitering Lurker>) & Gnome Assassins (<Shifty Stalker>).
- - Seafood Prep Rooms - Shrimp, Jumbo Shrimp, Giant Shrimp, Sahuagin & Sea Lions (accidentally caught in Adamantine net), Menacing Clams, Giant Clams, Colossal Crab King.
- - Feywild - Fey Enemies, Satyrs, Eladrin (All Types), Nymphs, Redcaps, Air/Wind/Earth Elementals, Blink Dogs, Cooshee Hounds & Wood Woads.
- - Main Hall / Deck - Humanoid Enemies from Rival Cookery Houses labeled <Crooked Caterer> as well as Orange-Named <Criminal Cook> enemies. In order to expose them in the Hall, you have to Bluff or Intimidate them, similar to Partycrashers. Once they're all outside on the deck, you come back and Bluff or Intimidate the leader, a <Corrupt Chef-in-Charge> who then fights with the other characters on the balcony, when a sky skiff pulls up alongside with a group of <Serving Stooges>.
- - West Larders - Unique Enemies like Living Food, Magical Pies, White Chocolate Gargoyles, Dark Chocolate Gargoyles, Several Slimes (Ambulatory Aspic, Slimy Syrups, Shuffling Sugar, Caramel Cublets), Caramel and Toffee Worgs as well as Rats, Bats, Rust Monsters, Troglodytes (pests) and Plant Enemies (that have the fruit attached to them).
- - East Larders - In addition to the pests above, also add animated Chef's Knives, Yuan-ti, Shadows (That haunt the condiments), a Pantry Ghost and Wisps (that lurk by the artificer-constructed appliances).
