Default Brand new pc, DDO crashes on launch

So, as the title says, brand new pc, windows 10, dx12 system 64 etc...installed both steam and non steam versions, both crash on start up and the launcher never shows
-tried to launch directly from the folder, it says that MSVCP100.DLL and MSVCR100.DLL are missing, so I tried to reacquire those files and put them back into place.
-after that, now that I try to launch the launcher again, it still crashes but instead of files missing it says "the application could not start properly (0xc000007b)."
tried to fix this by adding more supposedly missing files, same still showing the same error message, what do I do now? any help appreciated.

    https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/VC_redist.x86.exe

See if any of that helps. Also, try to run as admin? Have ddo access to protected my documents folder?

if the launcher is the problem, try an alternate launcher: https://ddowiki.com/page/Launcher

also, are you starting the right file, DNDLauncher.exe?

I had a similar problem. Unfortunately it was 18 months ago and I don't remember exactly what finally worked for me.

I had to install the game with elevated administrator rights, even though my account was the only one and an administrator. This allowed the game to install some file somewhere it needed to.

I had to run the game the first time as administrator and allow it through the firewall.

Well now that's interesting because the only launcher.exe that I have when I install the game is turbinelauncher.exe, nothing else.

You need a complete clean install. It seems you have an old version of the game partially downloaded. Your files should be in StandingStoneGames folder...

if you have access to another PC where DDO is installed, you can copy the installation folder from there via some USB stick.

Yeah maybe...but that's weird because it is the same with the Steam version....looks like something is blocking parts of the installation process, something along the lines of what Goldy said.

and yes, if I install the non-Steam version, it is located in the SSG folder.

But then it's missing the parts that aren't located in the DDO folder and installed elsewhere on the pc.

I'm telling ya, Delete all DDO related folders and clean install, and NOT through Steam. On install Run as admin and on first start run as admin. You seem to be hitting an issue with windows where certain areas are read only. You may have to do what I did and completely mark your Whole HDD/SSD as not read only.

    1. Delete everything DDO related.
    2. Check the link in my signature called DDO-Wrapper.
    3. Install DDO-Wrapper and DO NOT install it to the Program File directory. I recommend using "C:\Games\DDO" or similar.
    4. Once installed run the launcher from the shortcut as Admin.
