Default Questions on New Epic Destiny Formulas

    1) Do we lose all of our current fate points? The official thread seemed to provide a formula that did not include our current fate points? So there is no reason to try to rush and complete more destinies before the update, since we just lose all the fate points? So currently we get one fate point per three cores, not counting the free core, so 12X5=60/3= 20 fate points. Under the new system you get one fate point for doing three past lives, so its much harder to get fate points?

    2) What about the free epic destiny point we got from the $129 Fey expansion? Do we lose it? The official thread seems to imply so.

    3) So current Fatesinger cores gives both melee power, plus spellcaster levels, which is great for a fighter/magic user. But the official thread seems to say that the new destiny cores will only benefit spellcasters, or melee plus ranged? So fighter/magic users are screwed under the new system?

    4) Currently, lots of past lives gives you a very small amount of fate points, so no big deal. Under the new system, they give the primary currency, which is destiny points. So long time players just got a massive boost relative to new players, correct? Up to 10 extra destiny points?

    5) So we are supposed to do 48 epic past lives to get our destiny points? So this update imports LOTRO's absurd grind into DDO?

How many Fate points you have is calculated differently. There's none gained from leveling up destinies, because there is no more leveling up destinies. The thread states you can wind up with 55 fate points under the new system (until they add more destinies anyway), so past lives and tomes will get you some of that (one per 3 past lives, 3 from tomes).

Nope, you keep that destiny point. It's mentioned in the max destiny point calculation.

You're intended to be in multiple trees at once now (and I'm not sure where you'd spend your points if you weren't), so if you're a hybrid character, take a spell tree and a martial tree both? I don't see the issue?

All past lives plus a +3 fate tome is only 6 more destiny points than a fresh character. And people with all the past lives *should* have a benefit over a fresh level 20? What do you propose instead.

If you really care about getting every single point possible, yes, you need to do every past life. The same is true of racial points?

OK, so continuing to level destinies prior to the update is pointless. I wish they would have made that clear weeks ago.

Nope, you keep that destiny point. It's mentioned in the max destiny point calculation. I see it now, thanks.

You're intended to be in multiple trees at once now (and I'm not sure where you'd spend your points if you weren't), so if you're a hybrid character, take a spell tree and a martial tree both? I don't see the issue? If you are a pure melee or pure ranged, you have enough points for one full try and maybe another half tree if you don't want to try to use the extra points to recover what used to be twists. Melee and ranged can get double bonus from cores in multiple trees. If I am a fighter magic user and put points into one melee tree and one spellcaster tree, I won't be able to sustain the same level of melee power that a pure melee could, and that I can do right now by taking Fatesinger. Same apples to the non-cores. Fatesinger has both melee and spellcaster abiities mixed into the tree. I do see that the new system prevents all spellcasters from double dipping in cores, but allows it for melee and ranged, I guess there is some reason for that, but it is harsh that pure melee can doubledip cores but fighter/magic users cannot.

All past lives plus a +3 fate tome is only 6 more destiny points than a fresh character. And people with all the past lives *should* have a benefit over a fresh level 20? What do you propose instead. Six plus the 4 from doing epic completionist, so it is 10 destiny points, which is quite a lot, and thus significant messes with the power ratio between old and new players. As far as older players *should* get a benefit, of course that is true but they already get a massive direct benefit from each past life, so that is not an issue. The issue is they have added another huge benefit on top of the already existing significant benefit, thus making alts unfriendly and discouraging new players. And I have seen no explanation or justification for it. Why couldn't the update have been ratio neutral ?

If you really care about getting every single point possible, yes, you need to do every past life. The same is true of racial points?
Yes racial is also grindy. But the more grind you add, the more you encourage people to quit. Also the benefit from racials is limited, whereas destinies are supreme.
