Default A quick fix for Estar challenge gear

Now with augments decent and all:

    1. Dump level divisions and make them all only ML21 (21 so they are at least ok sentient food if you do not get the right combo
    2. make the ML 21 have the same stuff as current ML 24
    3. slap on two appropriate augment slots (e.g. a weapon would have red and purple)

do a similar squish and update of the cloaks

thoughts? Would you run them for a niche weapon or sentient host? As of now, they are really crummy, but some might have fun with a life stealing rapier or some DR breaker and if nothing else, 2 augment slots is in itself ok

    Cool

I agree wholeheartedly that these deffo need updating (maybe along with other Estar stuff, pulling it into line with newer loot).

As for how, I feel like the level 20-21 item list just got a spicy boost from U50 with the S/S/S dingus finally bringing back classic loot sets.

Instead, I'd move the Spellplague / Spelltouched weapons to Level 17 (Heroic) or Level 25 (Epic)

They get 3 Randomized Effects, 1 LGS-Type Effect (Like Magma Surge / Greater Sirocco) for the Heroic, and the Epic version gets a chance at 2 (so % chance to get Greater Sirocco and say, Epic Paralysis).

If the Heroic stuff isn't really worth it, I'd def prefer something for Mid-Range epic if you don't have a sentient jewel lying around.

And as you said OP, 2 Slots makes sense in Epic.

So potentially an item would look like this:

    Spellplagued Falchion >Expanded Dice (2d8)

    1. Slashing 5d6
    2. Jolting 12d6
    3. Greater Flaming Detonation
    4. Crushing Wave
    +
    Red Aug
    Purple Aug

Another QoL fix would be to make them BtA.

that could work. I was thinking quick fix so that it would happen--just modify existing tech with a couple of tweaks--maybe do two recipes in which the first ings/mats you give to the crafter then generates the item, secondly, if you like what was created, you add more ings/mats to add the augment slots.

I am not sure people will bother with something at level 25 given LGS or even ToEE sets, even if the latter needs an upgrade.

Even with the S/S/S update which I am enjoying immensely, there are many areas in which weapons are not represented. For example, the only Great Xbow for a sentient jewel is Borderlands. I am not crazy about the Borderlands weapons--they are ok just not fun. I like the flashy procs and life stealing, for example, even if only situationally useful, and would be willing to grind one out for it.

The Spellplague is a league of its own on throwers.

Ah IC my bad. If you mean a quick fix, then yeah I see where you're coming from. (^___^)b

So 1st Recipe - Generate Item, 2nd Recipe - Add 1 Red Slot, 3 Recipe... Add Mythic?

I am of the opinion that mid-range epics could use more flavor. That said, it makes sense when you say there are gaps in S/S/S update. This could certainly paper over some of it.

I agree with you, Borderlands is an interesting pack, but the loot feels disjointed and a little meh. Also farming it is remarkably annoying.

And yes, Flashy Procs are always a hoot to use.

    So to recap:

ML 21 Scimitar - Base Damage modifier should be 2/2.5 or 3.

    1. Effect 1 (List)
    2. Effect 2 (List)
    3. Effect 3 (List)
    4. Unique Proc (List)
    +
    Red Augment Slot

Also % Chance to get 2nd Proc Slot for Effect 3 with Spellplague Throwers. I also feel like the Shuriken / Dart / Throwing Axe, Dagger and Hammer should have bigger dice.

    Agreed.

Also, it would be cool if metal types got added to the generation table. Adamantine, Byeshk, Silver, Cold Iron, Crystal, Stone, Flametouched Iron.

imagine if this was ML 21 with augment slots. Would you want it?

I just Think they need to update stats on all Estar gear in line with rest of game, don’t put double slots on something like this - that belongs to raid gear

The challenges are great for what they are - experience points, I never have trouble getting a full group together for estar challenges and it’s relatively safe to assume 5 star completion with full group even with people being under level - think that nets in the 100-150k xp range for 10 min quests

That’s already good enough ie 700-900k xp in 1 hour which is around where grim disturbance is for the same time/effort
